One small piece of advice I have is to tell different ways in which the ponies left. I think in every little flashback you used the word "leave" in some way. Just try to vary it a little if you can.
Also, remember I'm always up to preread if you are ever wanting any additional advice or something like that.

The story is well written, so I'll pick on you. You've got "butter-yellow hooves" in there three times. It is a description that sticks in my mind, so for a short story like this, I recommend using it just once.
That's all I've got. The only other thing is that my mind refuses to believe they'd all part like that and never see each other again. There's kind of a funky relationship between distance and visits, too, because when your friend lives far away it means you have a free place to stay for vacations!
1255677 For your second comment about the leaving: It's supposed to be symbolic of people leaving each other and moving on to bigger and better things, eventually forgetting their friends except for what they use to remember them. (I hope that makes sense)
