After the rocket was launched, everyone celebrated. The Combine could no longer send reinforcements to earth, and the remaining troops were now isolated. However, Lamarr, a headcrab under Kleiner's care, jumps into the rocket before launch and goes along with it to space. Fortunately for Lamarr, an unknown phenomenon occurs, launching the headcrab into dimensions far away.

I'm pretty sure headcrabs are genderless and that Kleiner calls it a "she" out of affection. Could be wrong though.

I agree, but since you've already given her much more sapience than headcrabs display, what with knowing her own name as well as kleiners name, it would make sense (to me anyway) for her to also refer to herself in the way kleiner does.
It's up to you either way.

I figured I would since Lamarr is a much more playful headcrab than most, plus she has been raised by a genius :p I also figured it would work better since most of MLP's animals seem to be sapient as well.
Also, just because an animal knows a name doesn't mean they're sapient in the same way humans are. Dogs can learn their names if you call them by that a lot, and probably your name if you tried hard enough.
I was just playing Black Mesa and was thinking about head crabs interacting with other creatures.
ah..you know, for me its ironic that the CMC and Applejack got to saw lamarr first
