A rip in space has opened in the skies above the Everfree, and something powerful has fallen through. The entire forest has been petrified by unknown magic, and the entity responsible—only seen by a few—now appears to be hiding within its garden of dead trees and monstrous statues.
With the town of Ponyville put on lockdown, and concerns of an escaped prisoner from Tartarus worrying the surrounding lands, the Elements of Harmony now rally with the Pillars of Equestria to locate and quell these threats. Little do they know they are not the only ones scouring the woods for the source of this deadly, foreign magic.
Faced with certain peril, the heroes of Equestria must save their land by stopping a match made in Tartarus: the villain, Tirek, who seeks to drain all Equestria of magic, and this avian threat, which holds the power to drain life from anything organic.
* AU timeline where Tirek's return from Tartarus did not happen until after Starlight's redemption and the return of Equestria's Pillars. Twilight's role/castle was born from her success in reforming Stygian and reinstating Equestria's lost champions.
* Rated T for cartoon violence, mildly disturbing imagery, and allusions to death. Yveltal's powers translate to petrification rather than instant death, using the 17th Pokemon movie and relevant anime episodes as canon references.
Yveltal!
The ponies are becoming self aware

True! I mean, Every Season has a NEW SUPER VILLAIN, or THREATS that the Mane Six and their Friends/Allies will have to face.
Yeah, it tends to get so cliche and annoying that it's the ONLY sentences that either Twilight or Celestia will say.
So, as for Tirek trying to steal Yveltal's "Magic" Powers? Tirek is just a Cocky Idiot. Pokemon themselves DON'T have the same kind of "Magic" like the Ponies or the other MLP Creatures. They are so FAR different.
Yveltal can easily kill you if you try anything stupid, you dummy! The only thing that can face Yveltal/him is to have another Legendary Pokemon that is benevolent, and a Friend/Ally to the Ponies.
Or even send in Xerneas herself ( Pokemon Legendary Goddess of Life, and the Pokemon counterpart to Yveltal), Zygarde in 100% Form ( The equivalent of the Pokemon Legendary of Balance/Order) , or even Arceus himself ( The Pokemon GOD/CREATOR!!!!! ) to take this "God of Destruction" Birdly back to the Pokemon Universe.
And IF we sadly don't have another Heroic Pokemon Legendary or Mythical to stop Yveltal's Life Draining/"Death" Rampage.
We can just have the Mane Six, the Pillars, Princesses and other Ponies learn, educate themselves, befriend the other Pokemon that are just teleported to Equestria. Train really hard and evolve them to their highest forms. And then, GANG UP on Yveltal. And maybe beat him with numbers??!!
P.S. I don't like that Celestia thinks that EVERY Pokemon is "hostile" or anything. I mean, I get that they don't know Pokemon in general. And the situation is highly dire. But, NOT every Pokemon has evil intentions or anything. Plus, it's cool and nice for the Ponies ( Especially Twilight or Fluttershy) finally educate, or learn about the Pokemon themselves.
The Pokemon Lore and History, the MANY different Element types, the many species, and learn that they got their own "Demi-Gods, Gods/Goddesses ( Legendary and Mythical Pokemons).
And of course, possibly learn about the Villainous Human Factions ( Teams) besides, Hostile/"Evil" Pokemon that they will have to face.
The Mane 6 and Xerneas vs Tirek and Yveltal.
The villains and heroes teaming up in this story is something to be anticipated.
this looks very interesting and i will be looking forward to reading it soon
incredible cover art!!
When is this taking place? The description and behavior of Tirek seems consistent with his first appearance, but the presence of Starlight and the Pillars would require this to take place much later in the show.

Take note of the story's full description. This is why it has an Alternate Universe tag.
So basically the same, except Tirek's initial debut appearance happened much later than in canon.
10780286
... oh. Right. Well, that's egg on my face.
10780577
Someone upvoted you so, at least you're not alone? Thought of reiterating this in first chapter's author notes but it was already long.
Finally got around to reading this, I'm liking it so far! It's okay if it's different, you can only go so long without changing your style up before your writing gets predictable, that's understandable. I can't wait to see what comes next!
It's very interesting how this grand fantasy arventure starts off with a civilian in police officer debriefing, which then moves on to gripes about Standard Operating Procedure and being kept in the loop. I've been reading a ton of Worm stories lately, so I heartily approve.
The element of Discord and Fluttershy bonding over weird alien animals is something I wish the show did more often. I think we only got that in the holiday special, with the giant killer chinchilla. Then in the finale we see that he makes portals just so her animals have extra leg room... I think? I remember an early IDW comic issue where he takes Fluttershy and the CMC back in time so they can see dinosaurs. More of that please! A chance to show off those amazing and creative powers that don't involve him being a dick to his friends.
The imagery of Celestia looking over petrified forest, and being able to make make out her old ruined home his brilliance. It perfectly visualizes Celestia being haunted by loss and her perceived failures.
So in that scene, the trees have all lost their leaves. This has to do with a question I had about what precisely Yveltal is doing. This chapter uses the terms "decay" and "petrification." But aren't those two complete opposites? Is the idea everythong wilted, THEN turned to stone? Or did the trees turn to stone, which made all the leaves fall off? Bear in mind, I've never seen Yveltal's movie. Haven't seen any of those titles for at least 15 years, excluding the live action one. They seemed pretty routine and only exist to pimp out the newest legendary. (Except the third).

Gosh I love discussing lore. Hope you don't mind that we're friends, now.
The basis for Yveltal's powers as directed by movie and show canon is this:
* Animals and humans are turned to stone.
* Trees themselves are bleached white and made to look withered and dead. I describe this as 'petrified' wood, seeing as petrified wood is basically wood as a fossil, and it allows that term 'petrify' to be used as a blanket term for anything organic affected by Yveltal in the context of this fic. Animals are petrified stone, trees are petrified wood.
*The actual foliage of plants—leaves, brush, grass, etc, is literally disintegrated. This is where my descriptions of decay come into play, though that can also be synonymous with the trees. In certain scenes I mention that the grass has been decayed, but only crumbles to dust upon being touched. This is largely for dramatic effect and my apologies if it was confusing.
In upcoming chapters you'll see description of 'ash' or 'soot' along the forest floor. This is in reference to the disintegrated foliage.
And here's a gif from that movie, for you, which demonstrates how trees and foliage are affected.

As for what Yveltal is doing, you'll find out soon enough!
Thanks for the analysis! I really enjoyed that scene with Celestia in my head. I'm sure you'll enjoy what's to come!
And Tirek has one liners.
Shut up Starlight, Yveltal is adorable for a 19 ft tall bird thing
Oh boy, this can't be good
Interesting theory, however, that Tirek can do what Twilight did in School Raze and suck out the magic that makes cryptids what they are
This is getting interesting, keep up the good work!
Bon Bon. You naive Idiot!!!!!! You shouldn't underestimate the Powers of a Pokemon Legendary!!!! Especially the Bird of Destruction/Death!!!!!!
Fluttershy?! You should start learning the names of the Pokemon. Or EVEN learn the basics of Pokemon in the first place.
Sorry, I'm just getting tired of the Ponies to have little to no knowledge of Pokemon in general. They should have very soon. To truly know what there up against!
That is definitely cringe worthy. Seriously?! Ponies being this easily surprised is now getting way too often, boring, and annoying.
Edit: Why the dislike, guy/gal?
Well that's rude! Yveltel is much MORE than that. I just think she will be the first victim IF she doesn't keep her mouth shut by insulting Yveltel.
Does Tirek even have a chance to face a powerful Pokemon Legendary like Yveltel?
I mean, Pokemon technically don't have the same "magic" like Ponies, and other MLP Creatures do. So, I DOUBT if Tirek's Magic Absorbing powers can even work with this?
10800000
Why would ponies be aware of Pokemon names, powers or abilities? They're from a different dimension, and the names are given to Pokemon from humans in the Pokemon world. Unless we had human characters here to give exposition about Pokemon, there's absolutely no way anyone would be aware of anything.
10800263
Well, Discord could help out with the knowledge department, at least? I mean, he did go to the Pokemon World and bring the Eevee's to Fluttershy anyway. So, Discord could at least have some good knowledge on the Pokemon in general?
Plus, doesn't the Pokemon shout out their own names when they are "talking"?
Why can't Yveltel shout out he's own name as well?
10800293
He could, but I don't care to involve humans in this story, and it's fully believable that Discord just hasn't interacted with or seen humans in the Pokemon dimension yet, if ever.
Nope, that's just something the Americanization of the anime did. Even then, legendaries don't say their name.
10800295
Oh?! I thought the Legendaries kinda did? Then again, they can all talk English to us ( Humanity ) by using "Telepathy".
But, I DIDN'T say anything to have Humanity themselves in the Pokemon World be involved in your story. I meant of having Discord having the knowledge of the Pokemon Species. Due to his Chaotic Reality Bending, and Fourth Wall Breaking Powers.
But, since you don't want that. That idea is sadly going down the drain. I just getting annoyed that the Ponies have NO idea of what they are up against? Nor learning of who Yveltel truly is as the Pokemon "God" of Destruction/Death.
Plus, the fact that I hate them keep saying the word "Creature". When we ( The Readers ), already know who/what are the Pokemon truly are. It's kinda insulting that the Ponies keep saying our favourite fictional creatures ( Pokemon ) in Media, as just "Creatures".
They will probably never know the true awesomeness, or beauty of the World of Pokemon.
10800308
I think it's more fun for them to discover things for themselves. Put this nightmarish creature in the pony realm and have it form its own reputation. The readers already know what it is, as you've said, so why remove the mystery element for no reason? The entire point of the story is to see what happens and see how these characters would deal with a strange, foreign creature.
Think you're getting a little too hung up on little things if I'm to be honest.
Curiouser and curiouser.
Woah...
They're screwed!!!!!!!!
Aaa, nuts.
The death birb had awaken
The Legendary Pokemon can still communicate with others through telepathy and aren't just animals, right?
Also, Xerneas's signature move is Moonblast, while Yveltal's is Oblivion Wing, which is what I presume it uses to petrify everything it hits.
Perhaps you could make more stories like this one featuring other Legendary Pokemon that has played somewhat of an evil role, along with their signature moves, while working together with other MLP Villains? Here's some examples:
Primal Groudon + Primal Kyogre - Precipice Blades + Origin Pulse (respectively)
Ultra Necrozma - Light That Burns The Sky
(This next one should definitely be the true leader of the Legion of Doom, which (besides Cozy Glow, Tirek and Chrysalis) is also composed of: King Sombra, The Storm King, The Pony of Shadows, The Nightmare Force, Cosmos, The Dazzlings (in their true forms as Sirens) and The REAL Grogar!)
Eternatus - Dynamax Cannon
These are just suggestions, anyway.
10812260
Xerneas was shown using telepathy, not Yveltal though.
Afraid this is a labor love, not likely to do more like this afterwards. Great ideas, though. You should write them, yourself.
Oh trust me equestrian doesn't know what balance means , even harmony sometimes because they mostly confuse it with order
Ooh, great chapter! Looking forward to another!
Xeerneas, Zygarde, or Arceus?
Zygarde? Is that you?
(Or I suppose it could be Xeerneas, but I’ve only watched the anime, and Squishy is the only one I know who talks vaguely like this.)
Seriously?! Celestia shouldn't be so harsh to the poor visiting Pokemon! Heck, she would be fascinated by them. Along with everyone/everypony as well, IF they know what the Pokemon are truly are.
10819542
Tell me about it!
You mean Yveltel?! It has a Gender and Identity!!!! Why not "He"?!
Don't worry about it. IF you let Xeerneas, or Zygarde show up! Then they will take care of Yveltel, and everything will be fine.
Just hope that they WON'T take a long time to get to Equestria!!!!
Bruh, I was expecting this to be something by Tatsorou or something else, so when I saw your name at the top I did a complete double-take.
You know, Tirek ( The Villain in here ) DOES have a point in here, along with MANY things in most stories I read here!!!!
Again, also true in most cases in many stories!!!!
That's a bit rude! At least, KNOW his name, and real species ( Pokemon ).
Oh Ho!!! You have NO idea!!!!!
You should check out the other Pokemon Legendary and Mythicals! And even there regular Pokemon can be very interesting as well.
Again! Still no idea!
Glad that it is immune to Equestria's Magic!!! That's what a OP Pokemon Legendary is supposed to be!!! Although, considering that he is a Dark-Flying Type. He is weak/vulnerable to Fairy, Ice, Electric and Rock Pokemon.
But, A. Their is NO Pokemon from those particular categories to help the Ponies. As of yet?!
And B. I doubt that those Pokemon even have enough power to heavily damage a Legendary/Mythical Pokemon??!! Especially the one that is literally the Pokemon God of "Death/Destruction", and absorb Life Energy!
Yeah right!! You definitely change your mind when you sees Yveltel's True Power!!!! Along with many other Legendary/Mythical Pokemon! Like Arceus.

A true break from my norm, indeed. I enjoy writing Slice of Life with fluff, but I'm discovering that I also enjoy writing drama with action and lore. I've done very little of the later until now, though it can be found here and there. Try Lingering Shadows if you haven't already. Presumed to take place at some point in my KoLB universe.
Fluttershy, truly the bravest of them all. Bravo.
