I had no particular music in mind when I was writing that, I just thought it would be fun to have the reader imaging what the music sounds like. Kinda like Schroeder's sheet music in the Peanuts Comics.

I like the perspective of the story. I understand why you used it; to help establish a sense of intimacy. It can be very tricky to use, however, which is why I never use it. Still, it's pretty good. One more thing.
The next time you start a multi-part story, please oh please have at least two chapters ready to go so that there isn't such a long wait between chapters. I know, there are a bazillion reasons why there was such a delay, but it helps to plan ahead.
