Or maybe, people just didn't like the story? I for one, while I abhor everything that this story had in it, still read it. I at times like to reflect upon the degeneracy and deprived nature of this world. I remind myself that people actually exist that get off on stuff like this. And when I am reminded of that, I thank god that I have no such desires and that I am better than those who masturbate over rape, degeneration, and racism.
It makes me feel good knowing who the degenerates are.

I for one don't believe in kink shaming as long as no one is getting hurt - physically, mentally or emotionally. Rape fantasy is way too common to be a cause and effect to real world crimes, there is clearly a dissociation people have between characters on a screen and real world people or animals, that goes deeper than 'it's illegal, that's the only reason they don't do it'.
Sorta like the Purge films, and the statements about society those try to depict. Most people would not go on murder sprees just because crime became legal. Most people would just steal shit for themselves. This is because we have empathy, the building block for relationships and understanding others. It's a documented fact that serial killers, rapists, etc, i.e psychopaths, either lack the capacity for empathy entirely from being born that way, or have a severely subdued capacity for it due to abuse, etc.
Just because someone gets thier rocks off to rape fantasy does not inherently mean they are one of such cases, and would ever, ever become a danger to society.
Would I defend someone who's relationship gets fucked up after thier SO finds out about such that they get off to? Probably not. It's a hard taboo and reasonably so, people hide it for a reason. But I just find it rather pointless to start throwing anonymous shade at other anonymous people who engage in it.
Sorry, more long winded than I intended. Just thought I'd share a different point of view.

I'd like to mention that a lot of people have rape fantasies because they have been raped. Sexual fantasies allow people to examine their trauma in a safe environment. for example, there's this old book, I think it's called my secret garden if I'm remembering correctly.
