Damn it! No matter how much I click it I can't give this story more than one thumbs up! WHY!!!

Seriously though, this looks like the start to a great story, I can't wait to read more.

Glad to know I haven't lost my touch. Hopefully I can keep up a consistent schedule this time.

Ok, I just finished reading the first two chapters you published here and since this is a reimagining, I decided to give Version 1.0 a read.

This is really well done. I like the improved way that you started the new version, it shows real growth as a writer. In your old version you made the minor beginner mistake of describing every little thing. You improved as a writer and haven't made that mistake in the new version. Beginners often list everything the character is wearing and whats in each pocket of his cloths, or describing every single weapon on a vehicle and what direction its pointing in. While more seasoned writers will let the readers imagination fill in the details on their own. After all, readers imaginations always seamlessly auto correct any mistakes as new information comes out in the story.

So right off the bat, the new story is much better and Im actually looking forward to seeing where your going to take us.

Oh and I have to say, in the original version, the "I know what I'M doing / Luna gets shot in the head scene" Is hysterical. 5 points for that one. Im not sure that would transfer over well to the new version, but it was dam fun to read.

Keep up the good work,

The Monk

The detail and consideration you've put into this is pleasantly surprising. You have my gratitude, and your comments will be taken into consideration moving forward.

so if this is implying correctly then they got a connection to pre war fallout and something happend to comprimise the portal so now it has rapidly changed time periods to after the bombs? will continue to read to find out

sssomething like that. I hope think you'll enjoy where this is going.

i like what i see so far but to ask where are they in the fallout games areas as i only played fallout 4

Ah, so this was what you had in the mix. Melikie

All I can say for now is that it takes place between New Vegas and 4. Keep in mind, I'll be basing the story off the lore established in the West Coast games (1, 2, NV) more than the others.

Yeah I didn't really know what I was doing back then; I had only a vague idea of where I was going and no idea at all of how I would get there. I spent the time to think this one through, and hopefully it holds together.

Soon, hopefully. I got myself an editor and should finish the next chapter in a week at most.

“Therefore, it’s likely that their notions of advanced medicine are similar to ours as well!.”

I would disagree on what ponies consider "advance".
1.The book in itself isn't big

pictures.abebooks.com/HENNIKERBOOKFARM/22445756383.jpg
It's contents :
This book covers Standard First Aid Theory: The Why and How of First Aid; Wounds; Shock; Artificial Respiration; Poisoning by Mouth; Injuries to Bones, Joints, and Muscles; Burns and Ill Effects of Heat and Cold; Common Emergencies; Transportation; and First Aid Skills for Standard Course. It also covers Advanced First Aid Course Theory and Skills: the Human Body; Special Wounds,; Common Emergencies; Skeletal Injuries; First Aid Kits and Supplies; and First Aid Skills for Advanced Course.

2.I'm not a doctor or a medic, etc but it's seems basic, something for a civilian to learn in school or on his own.
Military and medic staff would know much more

True, But then again, when you go to an alien realm, anything more than toss leeches on it and cover with dung could be considered advanced.

Remember that Germ theory is extremely new concept and that not too very long ago miasma theory was common. The most famous nurse in the world, Florence Nightingale practiced miasma theory based medicine, not germ theory.

(For those of you who don't know, there was a small group of doctors that thought that tiny monsters living in dirt and putrid water caused infection and sickness. The majority of the doctors thought this was nuts and knew very well that sickness comes from fumes off of bad stuff like sewage, rotting bodies, etc. Get rid of the smells and fumes and disease would be eradicated. That in a nutshell is miasma theory. )

True story. There was this doctor in Sherlock Holms era that believed patients were dieng because doctors didn't wash. Surgeons would go from surgery to surgery with the blood of the previous patients still on their hands and blades. If you had a neat freak of a doctor, he might wipe his hands on a towel first. Anyway, this Dr started washing everything with weak acids and alcohols and his patients mostly lived. This was a big thing and he published his work. Medical board thought he lost his fucking mind and told him that hospitals don't have time for his neat freak cleaning bullshit. The Guy just wouldn't let it go. Both his close personal friends and his wife had the Doctor committed to an insane Asylum where he sent the rest of his life. He died Ironically enough, of an infection due to a medical surgery he needed.

True story.

Sorry, cant remember the Doctors name. German or Austrian I believe and no it is't Dr Lister who invented Listerine

They were extrapolating: Considering that since, what Equestria qualifies as 'First Aid' is similar to what humans do, it is fair to assume that the humans have access to more advanced medicine beyond what is described in the book. "It's probably similar to our medicine" is just conjecture, but as Luna admits, it isn't meant to be a foolproof information gathering technique.

Also, I am just tickled pink that someone was able to immediately recognize which irl book I was referencing. Well spotted, sir.

Soon. Hopefully before November.

Hmm, do this is after the events of New Vegas, interesting. The Courier must have take independent New Vegas route.

10543177
Something like that...

Aw man, I remember seeing this updated but couldn't find the time to read and forgot. Regretting that because this really would have been great to read a few weeks ago.

Really enjoyed this chapter, intrigued by how Sam is so sneaky/undetectable. Here's hoping Swift Wind can kiss Luna eventually .

10557541
Hey, you got around to it eventually, and I appreciate it. kinda like how I eventually got around to replying to this comment
All seriousness, thanks for chiming in. I have the third chapter awaiting editor approval and hopefully I'll be able to start publishing again at a slightly more reasonable schedule from then on.

I am curious to see how Vegas has developed depending on what ending you chose for the game (unless you made up your own version, which might lead to an even more different Vegas than I am envisioning). Keep up the good work!

Sam was slightly above average height and mass for his species, he continued, and on the tail end of whatever age category came after ‘young adulthood’ and before ‘middle age’. When Night asked about this ‘Nevada-Utah Confederacy’ that the hostel belonged to, Sam rubbed the back of his neck and said, “Well, it’s all a mite complexicated. Basically, a lil’ city down South found itself a lil’ patch of Manifest Destiny layin’ ‘round, and went around colonising and annexing a bunch of territory, mostly ‘round abouts the Northeastern way. Since most of its new land’s in Nevada and Utah, and since they got a lil’ Confederate Congress goin’ on down in the capital, they started callin’ themselves the ‘N-U-C’. Frankly, I think s’all a buncha hoey. I mean, they gots plenty of land in Cali, why don’t it get t’be in the name?”

Interesting. If I'm interpreting this right, the NCR appears to have won New Vegas and annexed parts of Nevada and Utah. However, it appears the NCR was nice and gave these new areas a whole lot of leeway to decide how they want to develop their communities.

This is a good short term plan and I'm glade it's quite beneficial to those new areas annexed, but I bet you it's gonna bite the NUC in the long term. A confederacy has stong state governments but a weak federal government. This means the federal government will struggle to enforce federal laws and unite the newly formed country during times of need. People will feel more loyalty to their state government than to their national government and may threaten to succeed from the NUC if pushed too hard, possibly leading to civil war.

Sorry about my rambling, but I'm quite interested in you story and can't wait to see more from you TheRedBaron.

10585061
Thanks for checking my stuff out. I appreciate it!
As for your interpretation... let's say you might be surprised.

10585188
I guess I'll have to wait and see how much of my interpretation was right.

These four chapters are already very different from the original story. Sams gonna be a fun riddle to try and solve before the big reveal and all the named guards interacting with the princes and the mojave is going to be a blast. thanks for giving this another go TheRedBarron

So now here's the question who has come to the rescue...
Is it A the smart vault dweller (FALLOUT 1)
B Grug (Fallout 2)
Or C. Lord death of murder mou- I mean the mailman.

Hmmm so the waste is vastly different from normal lore.

Also I believe that Sam is Courier 6.

When we gonna see new chapter

Welp another dead end story

When's the new chapter coming out?
