Back inside Stable 4, I was destined for greatness. Outside, I was nothing more than a filly. At the same time, I also seemed to fit in very well into the horribly violent Equestrian wasteland, more than you would expect from somepony my age.

So far I love this. Good fiction.

Very glad to hear you like it
Damn, this isn’t gonna end well. Drop’s motivations are somewhat lacking tbh, but maybe they will be more clear later.
It was obvious Banter did it, but the details of the betrayal hit hard.

Yeah, it's part of why I enjoyed writing this chapter so much. I just couldn't wait to get that reveal done
This chapter was legitimately painful to read.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but… painful because it was poorly written, or painful because you knew how it was going to end, and still found yourself hoping it wouldn't?

Oh my gosh! I’m sorry for the ambiguity…
…It’s the latter. That chapter took longer than it should for me to finish. Partially because before I had even finished my mind was already spinning away at a couple non canon offshoot scenes. It’s the final test of whether writing has truly hit me if I immediately have to flesh out all the consequences in my imagination.
Banter and Iron’s conversation at the end of chapter 14 was beautiful. I think Banter’s special talent may be able to cross the fourth wall because I really believed he was genuine there. Though I guess maybe he was but even he didn’t realize it at the time. I should have seen this coming, but I bought into their reconciliation so hard that I just came up with other excuses to how they all got caught.
But than this chapter starts and I KNEW. And it was horrible the whole way through. It’s horrible because I can’t blame Banter at all for what he did. Iron is a terrible pony and she did put his entire family in danger and she did maim him for life. She totally deserves to face justice. But it’s horrible because I know that no matter how justified he is, this is going to to destroy Banter. It’s going to destroy him because he’s not a cold as ice motherfucker like Airdrop. It’s going to destroy him because he has to go behind his family’s back and there’s no way he can just live with that the rest of his life. It’s going to destroy him because I KNOW how his conversation with Iron goes and I KNOW he has a change of heart. And finally it’s going to destroy him because SLAVERY.
This was the most painful line in the entire chapter. To know that even a small part of his thought process while hatching this plot was how they would profit from it. THAT is going to destroy him.
I went to bed just after posting that first comment. I woke up just now teary eyed, thoughts racing over all the events and implications of this chapter. This is a beautiful story.

Oh, no worries, it's just my insecurity showing
And wow, you kinda just made my whole week. I'm really happy that I was able to touch at least one person so profoundly, that I was able to evoke the exact the feelings that inspire me to write.
This isn't the first time I get such a high compliment, but it is the first time I've had someone talk about my story the way I talk about the stories I love. :')
Same. When I love a story and something big happens, I stop in the middle of the scene and start pacing, thinking about what's gonna happen next.
wow airdrop really is an asshole, I suspected it from the moment I knew candy was alive but damn I didn't expect that
I can only speculate on what he did to get rid of grace

Yeah, when I first published chapter 16 I thought a tonne of people would catch on that he's the villain. Glad to see someone pick up on it.
Also glad to see someone suspects him of being behind Grace's disappearance heh
I already thought Airdrop was a slimy back-alley salespony putting on airs of false civility, but after seeing this,... there is no fate so foul that he would not deserve it ten times over.

Kind of ironic to say that about him, wouldn't you say?But yeah, he's horrible and his actions are inexcusable.

words I have, words I shall give, yadda yadda leedle leedle leedle leeeeeeee
