And why can't I use a throwaway email, anyway? It's not like throwaway@gmail.com is any different from throwaway@10minutemail.com...

See, I don't have a problem with you thinking that. I do have a problem with seeing my story being added to a shelf called 'lacking' without any context or explanation from the author. This is the equivalent of getting a dislike on your story and never knowing why: was it because the reader didn't like it? Were you doing something wrong? Was it a troll?
I really don't have a problem with people saying they didn't enjoy something I wrote. Yes, I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy it, but if you tell me why, then I can take this into consideration. I can't work with anything when you put it in a shelf called 'lacking' without any contextual explanation. It feels very out of context and kind of hurts a little bit since it seems like an insult to me.
Now that I know why you didn't like it I know this isn't the case, but I see that you've got a lot of stories in that folder, and would like to point out that some authors probably took offense to this, especially if you didn't give a reason as to why a story ended up in that shelf. Since you're not a writer, I suppose you aren't familiar with this effect, but most writers put a great deal of care and work into their stories. Receiving any sort of criticism usually hurts, but receiving it in this manner most definitely stings. I guess I just want to remind you that the people writing these stories are people too, real people with feelings about what they wrote. Adding it to a shelf called 'lacking' is, to me anyways, a very blunt way of saying 'I didn't like it,' without telling me why you didn't like it.
I hope that explains my line of thinking. I'm not particularly angry about it, but I just want to point out that making these sorts of shelves can rub people the wrong way. And thank you for pointing out the typo, I edited that line on my phone.
Deuces.

Hi, I'm sorry that it hurt.
Take it with a pinch of salt. I'm not a writer (atm), and I can't provide specific, constructive feedback. If you want to know why it's there, I felt Cherry's situation was contrived, and the suspension of disbelief (if you'd call it that) wasn't there for me.
But that's a subjective opinion, and it's all my ratings are.
