When Sunset Shimmer, the current protege of Princess Celestia, befriends and agrees to engage in magic lessons with Twilight Sparkle, an introverted filly with a great desire to learn everything possible about magic, she quickly learns that she is far from a normal unicorn, which leads to speculation upon Canterlot society. Note the tags, dude. Alt. universe is one of them. I don't know why you expected this to end happy, after I labelled it as a grimdark, as much as the violence, suicide/self harm, dark, and tragedy tags. You should really look before you jump into a story. Celestia was made as a villain to appear as the Celestia in the show, but this isn't FiM. Alt universe= nothing in the story is relevant to what is canon.

You do have a good point. And I do read the Tags and it's a different Alt. Universe once before reading this. At first when I saw this, I thought Sunset was being the bad guy when she was jealous of Twilight having a better relationship with Celestia. After reading this, I DIDN'T expect Celestia be the terrible bad guy as a pure evil and corrupted jerk. With having both endings being "Bad" and "Bittersweet". I kinda have it coming when it's "Grimdark and Depressing" in the first place.
I just personally have a Bad History mostly seeing Celestia as a OOC Tyrant B**** in a lot of Stories I have read over the Years. So, that's where my Furious Anger was come form.
I really liked the interactions between Sunset and Twilight. Great story!

What an antagonist should be and not the opposite?Bro, that is not only a dick of an excuse, but also a huge amount of disrespect, hating on an author for using their own interpretations of something they've never done before.
You really need to learn how to properly criticize things, rather than basing them off "your" experiences. That's the entirely wrong way to EVEN criticize someone properly. Go in level-headed, and don't blame it on the author for things you may come across that trigger you based off "your" past experiences with certain characters.

This was an excellent AU tale. I like how the tone gradually got darker with each chapter.
The two endings reminded me of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, as far as the protagonist spending the rest of their life tormented by the villain in the bad ending, and making a heroic sacrifice in the good ending.

.....you know, I was hoping for something original.....instead I get the forever overused "evil tyrant Celestia going muahahahaha!" cliche. Aside form that, it's well written and has a interesting premise. (the "twilight meeting and being taught by sunset" bit, not the "evil Celestia" bit.)
