There was many things that this world did not know about in relation to magic. The majority believe it doesn't even exist, whilst some claim that magic is real. Sunset Shimmer knows that magic is far from fictional, she has spent most of her life in another dimension as a Unicorn after all.
One could very easily say that she is the most magically-versed human on the planet, but even she wasn't aware of what magic could cause the events to come. They appeared in the form of a simple card game, one that grew massively popular due to the lifelike holographic animations made to support it.
Sunset Shimmer decided to have a go at the game and forge a deck alongside her friends at Canterlot High School. Little did she know that this card game would change her entire world and change isn't always pleasant.

Before I get into this, will there be any indication as to which cards are custom and which are not?

Ok start, the relationship between Swift and Sunset sort of reminds me of Joey and Grandpa so it'll be interesting to see where that goes.
With that said, I'm not a fan of custom decks since they can lead to some OP crap. That and it feels like the main character is, for lack of a better word, cheating. But since everyone here has a custom deck I guess that makes it fair. That and it was a nice idea for a ritual card to summon a monster from the deck. I would recommend that not ever duel being a beatstick duel. Every duel and duelist should have its own flavor or style.
