As someone who has worked retail for years, I can perfectly sympathize with the characters. I've done this crap before. On the other hand, this is clearly an original story, not a pony fan fiction. You just turned the characters into ponies so you could post it here. There really should be more of an effort to make it pony-centric if it's going to be here. Perhaps you could make it a mix of ponies and humans like in the "Not A Contest" universe:

Ta for the comment, man, and the time. I am trying to include enough pony to justify its presence on the site. As the story continues, I hope it'll become clearer that this world has ties to Equestria. I'm trying to do more stories that are as you've said: original stories. But I do want them to have a pony twist. Once the fantasy elements kick in in this story, I hope it'll feel more pony-centric. Thanks again for the time.

I'm tempted to read this story but haven't started it yet. I currently do this job, pushing carts, or trolleys as they are called in some places. been doing it for nearly 3 years now, hitting my 3-year mark in July. its been great fun as my bosses don't care that we listen to music while we work.
