Rainbow's home is a luxurious, big house seemingly separate from any particular town. Twilight finds out why as Rainbow explains what a Cloud Redoubt is and how you win one...in ritual combat. Despite getting her curiosity satisfied, Twilight almost wishes she hadn't.

With them distracted, Twilight rushed for the door and made a mental note to never enter Rainbow's house alone.

I'm no expert on warrior peoples Twilight, but I'm pretty sure that as Rainbow's friend you'd have to explicitly issue such a challenge to be in any danger.

Considering that the warrior people are sky pirates and how Rainbow treats rules (and her own cousin...), that might not be a safe assumption.

Ah, but see she made it clear her cousin challenged her. On the other hand, Rainbow never said she officially challenged the previous owner, but that's fine, Sky Pirate rules, she wasn't the owner and she liked the house, so she took it. I admit I brought up the wrong thing by saying Twilight is Rainbow's friend, it was more prudent to mention that Twilight had the safety net of having to issue a challenge in some manner to be a part of the tradition in question, unlike Rainbow who clearly doesn't have the luxury of expecting any kind of formal challenge. Lawless tradition and all that. I might have read it wrong, but it seemed like Twilight was worried she might become another trophy if she went into Rainbow's house alone, so that's what I was getting at.

The issue for Twilight is that Rainbow may misinterpret something as a challenge out of eagerness to get Twilight's head on her wall. Having another pony there would protect her somewhat.

I refuse to believe it. Rainbow would never leave her friends hanging, and what worse way is there to be left hanging then as a disembodied head on someone's wall?

Very amusing. :) The thing is I can kinda see this happening...
