Why am I not surprised to find Monochromatic is behind all of this? :pinkiehappy::rainbowlaugh:

Let it Begin.
LET IT BEGIN!

The form of the destructor has been chosen.

Bonny work, Mel. A nice wee meditation on the purple set's histories and relationship.

Rarity reacting to the effect Twilight has had on her career is always interesting to explore, and Rarity and Twilight's shared imposter syndrome was always something I found interesting about them as a couple. Twilight's suggestion of getting opinions from those she can trust is a good one. The RariTwi interactions were adorable here.

That was a lovely little story. Thanks for sharing it!

Liked this one. Really really like some of tenunderlying ideas here as well

"Exactly." Twilight nuzzled Rarity again, just because she could. "Though, if you really want, I could perform a regression analysis on your sales numbers compared to the industry average with some independent variables to filter out the effect of our relationship, then run the relevant statistical tests to determine if you actually are improving over time and how you compare with others in your field on an objective level with respect to a heuristic proxy for notoriety."
There was a pause as Rarity gazed blankly at Twilight.

I know how you feel Rarity... :trollestia::derpytongue2::raritywink:

Loved this little tale. Great work.

Love, fashion, and statistical analysis! :twilightsheepish::raritystarry:

Oh Twi, offering to solve Rarity's crisis with math I don't understand. Never change. :rainbowlaugh:

If it's RariTwi, somehow, Monochromatic will be involved. Somehow.

Dare Rarity take Twilight up on that analysis?

A nice RariTwi story :)

It's not Impostor Syndrome if the feeling is justified.

"Yeah, but do you trust me to give you an accurate assessment of your fashion skills?"

After the dress you designed, Twilight? I'm not sure if that would be an effective survey sample, sample size not even withstanding. :twilightsheepish:

I could perform a regression analysis on your sales numbers compared to the industry average with some independent variables to filter out the effect of our relationship, then run the relevant statistical tests to determine if you actually are improving over time and how you compare with others in your field on an objective level with respect to a heuristic proxy for notoriety.

That's a really fancy way of saying, "I could crunch some numbers and come up wtih something approaching an unbiased result" that would work fine for analyzing her business itself, but art can't be measured in statistics. Look at all the starving artists whose work only became worth millions after they'd died! :rainbowkiss:

Or you could release designs pseudonymously and see how they do?

"Bless Ponyville and their complete lack of respect for your title." Rarity rolled her eyes as she spoke, but there was genuine fondness in her tone. "That said, now that we're engaged... well, Sassy and Coco haven't sent last week's numbers to me yet, but from the number of commission requests I've had to turn down, I'm reasonably certain that I'm going to be able to purchase a dozen more stores across Equestria by the end of the year."

Uh, I’m wouldn’t call it disrespect, but rather having knowledge that twilight doesn’t want to be treated any different.

Twilight missed the rather obvious point that without Dash and her accident she would hve been ejected from the gifted school and never gone anywhere.
Exposure, fortune and fame are all purely accidental and none of it can ever be earned in any meaningful sense, at least so long as markets and exchange value are involved.

This was a delightful read and a realistic take on a relationship. I especially love all the minor things between the words, the touches, the intimacy. Made kt feel very real.

I really enjoyed this, especially the beginning. It feels very real, and it's one of those issues where it's nobody's fault, but still hurts.

I just wish there was a bit more weight to the whole thing. You present a very real, very serious issue with their relationship, and then by the end of the story, nothing has really changed despite the fact that the problem is only going to get worse.

This was a cute fic! I'm glad you entered this in the EU contest, because it was a pleasure to "have" to read!

Dang, this was super great. I loved the thought processes that went into this and how it was all laid out against this particular setting. I think a lot of us would like to claim we're the driving force behind our own accomplishments: that we've made it to where we are of our own accord. But as this fic shows that's not always true, whether it be friends of families or co-workers or other significant people, we've all had some degree of help to get to where we are now. Fantastic stuff.

I was reading this for a certain contest that's going on right now, but hot DAMN this is good writing. It really hits on all the right notes for its themes of luck, privilege and the dreaded reality of "It's not what you know (or can do), but who you know."

Great reference to the canonical series with the mention of "Canterlot Boutique" and everything else. Stellar job here, Undome.

Heya there! Someone requested this story to be read and I hope ya didn't mind that I did so! Gotta say, this is some solid stuff right here, and it's a real thinker when it comes to pondering about the values of love and how others view such a thing! Real good stuff! :D
