It's more taken from the Danganronpa 3 anime than the 1, 2, or V3 games, so less organized 'Let's live our lives together but if you really want out you can kill' and more 'One of you is totally a traitor and you have to kill them to be released. Actually if you've seen the anime, it may be closer to the main antagonist's very first killing game, but more drawn out.
Too many people play all three games and never watch the anime, even though it's the actual wrap-up of 1 and 2 with V3 being a completely different story. It makes the plot of V3 more confusing for them, as if it wasn't enough already!
All the same, I do manage to fit at least one round of "No that's wrong!" accusations in homage to the games and they do have to try to figure out who commits murders and if they're the traitor or if they did it because they thought someone else was the traitor. And you do get to figure out who/if the traitor(s) is/are. Also your point stands, With me at the helm it will be unduly brutal at times.

I've both played the games and watched the anime (No DRV3 spoilers tho), and there was kinda a thing going on in DR3? Not exactly a real killing game, but I'm sure if there was an actual killer there'd be something done to them...

It was a different kind of killing game is all. Like the rules in the description say, it's a very similar idea. There is a traitor among you, if the traitor dies or 3 days pass without a murder, I let you out. Also, the NG code violations like in D3, but I added the aspect where you're not allowed to tell anyone your rule and have to kill them if they figure it out or be considered a rule-breaker yourself. Also some of my NG codes will be so much more fucked up than theirs.
Well, this is shaping up to be a really fun story. Looking forward to seeing where it goes. :)

Well according to the poll, several people agree with you!
I've heard sensible arguments for a number of characters being the mastermind/traitor, and they're generally good theories, which makes me happy, especially when they disregard assumptions that the characters have made but aren't technically justified.
This is shaping up decently nicely, and by that I mean you've thoroughly dashed any semblance of direction I had about who the traitor is. My current thought on who the traitor is Smokey Quartz (padding for spoiler) is based mostly off of pure guesswork. The only hint I can see is the fact that she gets off on pain, which is a shared trait between her and Mukuro who was a kind of traitor?
Either way, going to have to wait and see, and hope my blind guess comes true. Glad to get 2 NG codes confirmed though, they're gonna set up some real nice stuff I'm sure.

Nah, she's just at that certain age where you want everyone to fuck you to death. We've all been there.
Not a huge amount of plot, though the plot we do get contradicts my predictions, so maybe it's the salt talking. Some real nice scenes this time round, especially liked the one with smokey. It made some nice break from the action, in a not too flow breaking way. As for predictions: I'm ruling out smokey, as that level of corruption is more characteristic of a lackey than a mastermind.
Plus it'd be a tad obvious this early. As for deaths/kills, I'm sticking with thunder being the first to die, though I'm feeling like shadow might join him. And maybe Smokey kills Devil? That's more of a blind guess.9934984

As for my theory at the time of Chapter 5, I think that the true mastermind behind the killing game is Cream Hearts.
As for my reasoning, I have few reasons to suspect her:
1. She was suprisingly insitant on killing Thunder (“We HAVE to kill him!” Cream insisted. “If we kill him, this will end!”). I'd put it to her being in the state of panic, but she was suspiciously "certain" about him being a traior and wanted to kill him ASAP (instead of restraining him).
2. The first thing she did was finding a safe place to hide with Button. She knew right away were to go to have a stable ammout of supplies, which suggest she ethier had the whole sytuation planned out, or had some prior knowlege about the layout of the vault. It was a suprisingly "sane" and smart move for a "scared cyvilian mare".
3. She's the only one having motive to kill off most of the cast. As a mother wanting her son to have a good life, getting rid of all the "degenerates" would certainly raise chance for that.
4. She has the cover of being "just a simple mother with her kid", which makes her "non-suspicious" in the eyes of most ponies.
5. Removing a sexist overmare and her wife would lower the chances of Button being abused or outright killed in the future. Framing overmare by using character from her books as mascot for killing game asures that even if she comes out alive from the game, ponies may not be very "welcoming" towards her.
6. As "nopony" in the stable, she had 8 months to do whatever she wanted, including planning the killing game.
7. By putting Button in the game with her, she rises the chances of survival for her and the colt. More "good" ponies would have moral issues with turning the colt into an orphan by eliminating Cream. Everyone besides overmare and her wife would also have troubles with killing a child.

Whether right or wrong I love that logic! I like seeing this in general and have had a few people come up with compelling reasons why someone could be guilty. The opinion seems very split though, since so far everyone that votes on the poll votes on a different traitor! I guess that means I'm keeping you guessing!

I get the appeal your type of stories, I got it 5 years ago when I first stumbled upon your work. But it's been a lot of reading in the past 5 years and I don't know if it's because I'm burnt out or something along those lines but I think I'm done here. When I first read lesson Applejack it was really disturbing, and I kept reading because I found them creative, after all you are a great writer. Which is a shame now I don't think I get anything from these. I don't think there are any new ways to murder rape characters. You might have exhausted them all. Especially after Celestia's Relaxing Vacation. Even when the story isn't just a back drop for murder porn like with this new series, I don't think I can be interested anymore. It nothing personal and keep up your high quality of work, but I think I have moved past this. I will probably finish this story out but that's probably it. Maybe check out your clean profile.
