Good even great start. The end reminded me of another fix called friendship is a game. But other than that I can get behind this.
i question the mane 6 tho... tied and gagged as they were, the princesses were essentially fine, and could wait. im wondering how they didn't see a pony laying right in front of them....O.o
An interesting start. I'll give this a like because it intrigues me and it's a gamer story, which I love dearly. I'll hold off on the favorite till we get a few updates. Let's see where little Button goes with this.

Manehattan, It's a large city and would have a massive impact on Equestria as a whole while not just outright slapping the population.
As for Button's powers, something along the lines of adaptation and assimilation. He's the Gamer, Gamer's are known for cheesing things so just give him an upgrade for his gamer power. An inventory that he can expand and contract the boxes to any size and use as a shield against projectiles and attacks is basically like giving him space warping abilities. Or the classic 'instant Dungeon creation' is giving him the ability to make parallel dimensions that he has complete control over. Super easy and super safe travel and safe space for life.
Or he could just use magic even though he's an earth pony, I'm sure that'd turn more than a few heads as magic would seem to just be a cakewalk for him. Maybe take a piece fro the 'HEROS' series and have him be able to gain any power of any conduit he's touched. Give him a limit on how many he can have at a time though like maybe three tops before he has to switch and change them for others he may want.
Just a few ideas.
I'm behind gnarl on that one. Fuck Manehattan and as a gamer. Button should have an inventory, a healing factor, party options, and even a save and load if possible. As well as being able to see enemy health.

Powers and weapon? There's a ability from a anime that's stupidly versatile and technically one weak sounding power.
Try looking up the 4th Wave power from the anime NEEDLESS
Straight from Infamous: Second Son, Video Manupulation sounds like it would be a good one for Button Mash. Add in a few alterations to more accurately reflect his status as The Gamer and as a video gamer, and it would be perfect.
I'll just say it: magnetism. It's quite versatile in my opinion, so it would definitely be a nice idea. In order to feed the power, he wouldn't need to do much, as planet had its own magnetuc camp. To nerf it a bit, we can make it that he passively absorbs magnetism over a long time, say several hours to recharge.
But that's just an idea that I thought up in two minutes. You can improve on it, if you like it, or just disregard it. I won't mind.
He should know about Nightmare Moon
If he will fight her and other villains and etc, he should make some costume but for example somethink like Deadpool costume

Being known as a hero, vigilante or a guy that has powers will be annoing for many reasons and not worth it
If you aren't in some high position of power or have a base only accessible(teleport underground or in it's own dimention) for him it's not worth being known

could you please continue and if at all possible. let him tell the princesses the whole truth. i actually like this. the conduit powers were not even needed. i just feel so captivated by the story.

Interesting start, I don't think I've seen a gamer fic start with the MC dying from INSANITY mode before... It definitely gives him a reason to go Easy Mode for a bit to get his legs under him. Plus, after the way he died no one can say he doesn't deserve his powers.
Idea for a power: Gamer copy cat.
By mimiking the movement of a game characters attack, he can temporarely manifest a part of that characters attack as his own.
