The timing of this story in the series was super-duper perfect!

So far, we've seen Silver Stream having fun in being a maternal figure as it helped Smolder to feel better / more relaxed about being a different kind of dragon. Here we get to see how the relationship between Baby Dragon and Caretaker has become far more than just a little thing to do.

Babysitting, I'd imagine, for Silver Stream is fun, pays some bits, and is random. You go in, do your job, have fun, and then get right back into being your normal self until you are summoned to do the job again.

However, with Smolder, there is far more going on here. Silver Stream can feel when Smolder needs more support and visa-versa. Silver Stream needs that consistant need to feel needed as Smolder needs some creature to care enough to allow her to explore a side that would be extremely taboo if any dragon would ever find out. (Though I think Spike may understand if he'd ever learn of this)

It makes sense how all that terrible tension from the day would make Silver Stream feel good about caring for Smolder. In caretaker mode, Silver Stream is in control, can both see and feel the results of her efforts, and know she's making some creature feel happy. Smolder also gets the chance to put aside all her dragon pride and get into her 'happy place' where Silver Stream is in control, to a fair limit, which further allows the hippogriff to feel something she hadn't felt all day, stable.

Very nice! Still lots of your writing to catch up on. Work has been stressful and reading these has been very helpful amidst the chaos. :)

<LoL!> Sky Star is still Sky Star.

The episode with Terramar was definitely a great ep for helping children, and parents, cope with divorce / separation. I know as, sadly, my wife decided to leave me a few months ago and ensuring the well-being of our son has been quite the challenge.

However, back to the point of the story, seeing how Sky Star and Silver Stream are corresponding is great. It's kind of like Silver Stream had her own version of making a "Friendship Report".

I wonder if the two do exchange letters? Sky Star doesn't seem like she'd be content not knowing more about the world beyond Mt. Aeris and Seaquestria. I'd guess the two would be happy to swap letters to share what they've been learning.

Very nice way to expand upon this series. It shows growth in Smolder along with Silver Stream. It's more than just moments when Silver Stream gets to be a mom. It's showing a degree of building trust, friendship, and further showing how every creature can be whoever (s)he feels they should be. :)

SilverStream really does have a really good motherly vibe. Good work
