The great earth pony alchemist, Arcadês, sought to discover the secret to immortality during the reign of Discord. Little is known about the legendary alchemist today during the Age of Friendship, as all records were believed to have been destroyed amidst the chaos of the Mad-King's reign. Now, so many years later, Twilight discovers a record that marks the last known location of Arcadês who, in that very book, is given the title "the Immortal." Twilight had followed the book expecting to find journals or perhaps potions. Instead, she found a story.
What follows is the tale of a troubled pony, seeking for their place in the universe. What do you do when your mind is shaped by your world and your world is one of insanity and chaos? What do you believe when nothing is believable? And how far would you go to reach an impossible, improbable dream?

Well, slime ponies have no organs to degenerate and restore lost cells through simple nutrition. They are immune to diseases and common illnesses, since they have no bodily fluids to transfer bacteria, nor organs/cells for the bacteria to infect. As long as they aren't killed be external means, a slime can live forever.

Interesting, I wouldn't breath Equestrian chronology too deeply, but it would be clear that the Pillars disappeared well before Discord appear so they couldn't have been created by Discord. Still this is a fun read keep it up.

What RD is referring to is the Legend of Flash Magnus and how it involved dragons. According to Arcadês, she saw the creation of the first dragons, meaning that the legend Rainbow heard was false. Magnus never fought dragons, because there were no dragons to fight before Discord's reign. They didn't exist, prior to Arcadês' encounter with the corrupted ponies in the last chapter.

Ah; actually, Flash never mentioned Dragons after his return, from what I've found. In my research, I think the only knowledge we have that dragons existed prior to Discord was the Legend of Flash Magus, which could be false.

Only problem is that the Kirin are confirmed to exist before the Pillars, since they're introduced by a shield that was "ancient in Rockhoof's time," so they're a no-go. So, since Dragon's were never confirmed outside of a tall-tale, I felt they were the best pick.
