*After carefully reading* Hmm. This is going to be a bit different.
Whoa. This went dark real fast. Just as I predicted, this is going to be something a bit different. But then again in reality. Some might have a happy Christmas and some will not.
This story is pretty good, and makes sense. I can get why he was so grumpy on such a holiday, but didn't let it ruin him fully, if he did would been much harsher and a true scrooge.
This reminds me of a Christmas episode of some show watched a long time ago, there was a character who was well a jerk, but around the holidays he really got angry and grouchy.
After a huge fight he was leaving a christmas party, and paused to answer a question.
Why he hated the holidays, every christmas, everything would go wrong and he lose everything, his family survived but barely and always wound up homeless.
Sniff you go on ahead tear. *teardrop fell to the floor*
And let’s not forget when her anger goes way too far.
Example: in the MLP Movie, she was so angry that she nearly almost blasted Pinkie with her magic.

I've often been surrounded by characters like Miser Stash-- work so hard, try their best to fit in, and still they are punished and gain nothing from their good deeds (As if a curse is placed upon them so they can never be happy, but just the guy who makes everyone else look good)
This story reminds me of the Muslim who changed the oil in my car wishing me a Merry Christmas, instead of a 'happy holiday' like all the other politically 'correct' sheeple have been doing all week. The 'holyday' didn't seem to bother him much. He even offered me a bowl of candy canes.
The moral of the story would be...to each their own. Don't tell me I have to like something and I won't have tell you to eff off! :)

Little late commenting this story ending.
I liked it, it a sad bitter ending but...that is life, not everything goes well, and the worst things can happen on the suppose happiest days.
I'm sad for that poor pony, and he had every right to be angry if not furious, all in the end they can hope for is maybe just maybe be find his peace.

Nuh-uhn... it was Twilight who did wrong did this time, and SHE who needed to learn. Miser didn't do anything really wrong anyway.

i know its probably sappy, but i would've added one more thing to the story. an epilogue where twilight receives a letter from miser years later saying "you are forgiven"

You constantly show the idea of Twilight being tortured over and over again and portray it as well deserved even though it's really not. That's why Twilight is sympathetic while your self-inserts are unsympathetic.
