With how the Royal Sisters were handled in the show for the sake of that tree's "chosen one"(Twiight Sparkle), as in handled poorly, I am starting to think Harmony counted on all of this.
Such as Luna snapping and becoming NMM so the darn tree could use her as a starter villain for its "chosen one".
