From what I know of depression, is that everything just becomes the exact same boring experience. You don’t feel sad, you just feel nothing at all.
So of Latent is suffering from depression, then Chrysalis is going to be surprised that she can’t just make them feel anything she wants. Especially if things get to the point that he doesn’t see anything but boring crap in his future and starts to wish he wasn’t obliged to keep living.
If this is from personal experience, than this could go great.
Though if you are still going through depression or fighting it, just know that people can help you actually feel again and not just have everything be boring crap.

I've always thought this kind of story had potential. I imagine that Chrysalis has never actually had anyone love her. The real her, I mean. She's used to putting on disguises and hiding her true self. This opens up a lot of possibilities.
