"I want to make sure I have this right," the white mare slowly said. "Trottingham has declared themselves to be in secession from Equestria. They're calling themselves a country now."
"Correct, sister," stated the younger sibling. "However, as a youthful nation which has no means of supporting itself, the next thing they did was to demand a foreign aid package."
"So they won't accept our leadership, authority, or laws," Celestia tried. "However, they will gladly take our resources, supplies, and money."
"Also correct," Luna observed.
"I'm never going to let a human hold a mayoralty again."
Exactly what I was looking for.
Sing it sister.
This implies Equestria is Europe...

Given this story is crackfic done as quickly as possible, they are kinda implying nothing. They are just being ultra quick and silly.
I hope you aren't implying with that, that Equestria is the US?
Really its got no earth comparison. Having Yakyakistan to the North means it should be in either Arabia or India. Daring Done implies that its southern edge is North Africa, which would make it at the very least Mediterranean.
Then you have Mistmane, whose cultral norms are clearly Far East Asia inspired but are also part of Equestria.
Then you have Tenochtitlan Basin, which is in South East Equestria which given Equestria stretches from Icecap to Icecap, does imply its in the Americas as does several cities, like Las Pegasus, Fillydelphia, and Baltimare.
And then we do have at least Trotttingham as a confirmed part of Equestria, which is a reference to a European city....
Its almost like the writers are just randomly choosing whatever reference/pun/location fits the story they are trying to tell, rather then make a political state inspired by a real world location.
Somewhere in the far, far distance, a voice carried upon the wind:
"Trotxit means Trotxit!"
this reminds me of an old magazine review of a game called "Superpower".
it SAYS it's an "ultra-realistic" simulation of world politics.
BUT when one reviewer actually played it, the FIRST thing that happened was...
Mexico offering the USA a TRILLION dollars of financial aid!
