Searching for meaning is meaningless. Searching for anything else is living. Boring life, Fun life, Angry life and so on they are all life so long as you don't waste it by overthingking.

How is a decision making story different then a CYOA story?

The 'dig for gems' choice link is broken. It can't be clicked on.

A choose your own adventure story?

Choose your own adventure was a book series with over 100 titles in the very late 1980's. The idea was that at the end of a chapter you were given two choices. Do A, or do B. If A then go to page 200, if you choose to do B, then you go to page 30. The story would change based on your decisions. Often killing your character. Although meant for children, many CYOA books had very dark, death related endings, with only a few choices working out in your favor. I loved them and had quite a collection as a kid.

You cannot copyright an idea. The cyoa books were based on the D&D computer games of the 1970's which was the first place where such stories could be told.

Adventure Games in 1979 was one company that produced and sold a dozen or so games for the TRS-80 computers.
