Ooooo, me likey. No seriously this is really imteresting. I never played Prototype but I heard it was good, so this is really my first experience with it.
Really good. A couple of grammar issues, nothing big just a few missing words. Really enjoyed it. Imma add this to my library. I would like it, but for some reason it won’t let me.
8703202 Thanks for letting me know about the grammar. I'll get that fixed. And don't worry if you can't hit the thumbs up. It's the thought that counts.
8703230 Nothing against Prototype or anything, it's just that the stories people write fucking suck, so I have hope that this will be decently good, first chapter's good though...
Sounds interesting. Oskar Osäker: True Omnivore never hit it off with me, but this one just might, as far as prototype-based thingies come. Lets see where it goes.
8703255 There's a good Prototype story called Shards of Impossibility. It's a Prototype/Worm crossover were Dana and Alex find themselves in a world full of superheros and villains. My description is shit but it's worth the read.
The best thing about these kinds of stories is the new virus lifeform coming to terms that they aren't the original. Not really. The mane six died that day, and in their place? Well, only time will tell what they become.
8745019 Got it in one. Rainbow understands that, but the rest have yet to truly realize just how grim their situation really is. I'll be addressing that later in the story.
"Oh, that's right!" Rainbow exclaimed, "so get this, when I stabbed one of the egghead looking ponies after I first woke up, I got this weird urge to... feed I guess. Like some kinda weird hunger that didn't have anything to do with my stomach. Next thing I know, all these tentacles are flying out of my body and pulling the guy into me."
Hmmm...
It was then that she felt something inside of her shift .
Could Twilight have the tentacles too? Or is there something else to help retract her blades? Getting a bit of a reminder of Powersnuffed here.
Interesting start, I'm curious to see how this goes.
PROTOTYPE is such a fascinating situation, where the monster's practically a blank slate, and in consuming their first victim, becomes them. As if Carpenter's "The Thing" didn't have any memory or drive or purpose, and just sort of... became the first person it ate. It's a much less black and white situation, because that person won't even remember getting eaten, and won't have any evil plan to consume everyone else, but they'll be... different, and whether they try to devour the world or not ultimately depends on their own decision, as both a victim and a monster. Doesn't mean they can just go back to their old life, since they are sorta death machines by nature, but there are more ways to deal with being that than just... eating everything.
It's also a sort of metaphysical dilemma, because future victims are obviously consumed, but the first victim, while they're being consumed the monster is becoming them, and even as it eats their flesh, it becomes their flesh. So there's no point when they're not themselves. Is that consumption and death, or is it transformation? If a hammer's handle breaks and you fix it, is it still the same hammer? What about if you replace the handle? What about if you then replace the same hammer's head, too? When do you start saying it's not the same hammer anymore?
It was incredibly bright. She had to squint almost as soon as she fully opened her eyes. Blinking a few times, she could just make out the bright glow of fluorescent lights directly overhead.
She couldn't move. She was lying flat - her back against an uncomfortably cold metal platform. Looking further down her body, she could see both her fore and hind legs bound securely to the table by thick leather straps.
She didn't notice her breath start to pick up as she began hyperventilating, she didn't notice as the twisted scrap metal that used to be the door slammed into the wall right next to her, she didn't notice as a pair of cyan hooves grabbed her by the withers and shook her roughly, nor did she hear the raspy voice screaming her name.
Rather than question the strange turn of events, she listened to that voice of power within and watched in awe and fear as black tendrils rose up from underneath her lavender fur and wrapped themselves around her forelegs. In a matter of seconds, the tendrils had vanished back into her fur leaving two very deadly looking blades in place of each of her front hooves.
Well, you got my interest, let's see where this leads.

Faved and followed the moment I saw the cover art and knew what this was going to be a cross-over of. I am not disappointed.
Oh it's a Prototype crossover... I'm slightly annoyed by this, but none the less it's good so far.

If it helps, the story is completely original and is only going to resemble the game in the very beginning.
I mostly just wanted the Mane 6 to have badass virus powers.

Ah, I see... well thanks then I guess. I'll do my best to keep the quality going.

Please do!

Excellent! Let's hope that this story about ultimate lifeforms continues according to your plan.

Sounds interesting, but I haven't finished WORM yet so I'll have to hold off.
Extra quote there
You have certainly caught my attention, please moar.

Thanks for the heads up and I'm already working on the second chapter.

I recently got [P2] like two weeks ago maybe, absolutely loved it. I wanna get the first one but in the meantime, I gon read this.

You can’t tell, but I’m sighing contentedly.
Ah, I love tragic stories where the bodies of people are forcibly warped. Good work word-smith!
