She's looking at you. Yes you. And she is judging you with her eyes. There is no escape.

T

Cerulean Skies has convinced herself that life itself has been forever ruined by her very existence. She is miserable in school and life at home is no better. Crushing poverty has left her a bit cynical, a bit jaded, and some might say that her outlook on life has been soured. She is almost absolutely certain that her very existence has made the lives of everypony around her even worse. Her parents, her brother, all pegasus ponies who have to live on the ground to accommodate her. She came along and everything was ruined.

She might be right.

It doesn't make her questioning of everything any less relevant.

If it wasn't for her idol, Moondancer, she might go insane.

An entry in the Weedverse.

Doesn't seem like such a comedy, but it does intrigue me.

Yeahp, definitely sounds like the typical ineffective, bullshit education system. those days can be bleak for sure.

though the hell is this filly talking bout. outmeal with raisins and cinnamon is fuckin delicious!

Yeah, life usually sucks, even from a young age...

I'm curious how she knows so much about Moondancer. It didn't occur to me that she was in the limelight aside from being one of the unicorns working for Twilight.

Very curious where this goes.

Well, you learn just a little about somebody, and then you build a narrative in your head, and then you obsess over them. And you think you know them so well. Like, better than anybody else. And you convince yourself that you know everything about them, because it makes you feel important and accomplished. This is how obsession and mania works.

They were hideous things and her big brother called them ‘filly rape protection goggles.’

.....thinking of these things!

I've known so many teachers like Miss Pie here. Hated every single one of them. Granted some were better than others but there were a few that made me wonder why they decided to be teachers in the first place.

I'm also really curious how Cloudy came to the conclusion of her ideas about Moondancer.

8633620
Sorry... Foggy comment in the story made me think fog which is kinda a cloud and am still only half awake.

The description scares me.
I'm scared of reading this story.
I'm scared of it tearing old wounds.
I'm going to read it anyway.

The Unreliable Narrator Is STRONG With This Story! :coolphoto:

Good Job!

Some ponies make you want to request a visit from Luna's Wardens. (Apologies if I've gotten the name of the unit wrong.)

Sadly, no crime was committed, and that would just waste their precious time.

8633994
Well there's crime, and there's what a proto-revolutionary considers to be a crime against the proletariat. :pinkiehappy:

In so far as I so hate seeing your characters in distress, no, I am not bothered by the shortness of this story.

Yeah, I think all of us know something about getting the blame when somebody else screws up.

But hey, uh... at least once you finish secondary school, literally nothing that happens in it matters anymore?

a story is not long nor short, it is only as long as it means to be.

My nickname in high school was "the gas man" and one of my proudest moments was getting detention once for farting. True story.

Very short, says kudzu.

I expect this means there's around 20-25 chapters to go.

8633679
Her name is Cerulean Skies, mocked as Foggy Skies because of the "fog" she emitted during lesson.

Hmm I'm trying to place this in the timeline...
For it to be a school named after Trixie it must be after she reemerged from the wandering... that means after the opening of Twilight school.
Hmm dunno...

8634326
I beg to differ; I can think of at least one that was way longer than it should have been.

As to the story itself, yeah, what about the rest of us? We're born into some lot in life, and we try to make the most of it. Some of us luck out, some of us don't. Eventually, we kick off.

Kind of a bum deal that we don't start to really figure things out until we're almost halfway to the end, but what can you do?

mane and tale with subtle

No, you don’t gotta go. You need to pay attention. I know this class makes you uncomfortable, but running away from it won’t help.”

I HATE these kinds of teachers! I had one when i was a kid, made me piss myself in class because either they didn't grasp the "holy shit, this is real, why would i embarrass myself otherwise" body language, or the fakers who came before were do convincing that they can't possibly distinguish an excuse to leave from a bodily catastrophe waiting to happen.

Ugh, poor dear.

who took it as proof that even if you were a hero, there was no guarantee that your dreams would come true

ouch, that hurts right in the feelsbox. :fluttershyouch:

Does this distress you?

On one hand, yes. I'm anyways hungry for more Kudz-y goodness. On the other hand, you wrapping up a story is always nice. Closure until the next story at least.

8634339
This is more like it! :rainbowwild:

Even though she couldn’t do anything, she knew that a skilled unicorn could bypass most locks in mere moments.

A really skilled unicorn would just blow the door through and take out the back door on it's way through....but...:trixieshiftright:

(P.S. been watching too many action movies again...*sigh*):facehoof:

It is already almost done. Does this distress you?

distress

I had a teacher that did exactly what Miss Pie did, only instead of the tushy tuba, I actually shat my pants, and got suspended for it.

Whomever had tormented Moondancer almost certainly had to have a sucky life right now, maybe living as a wagon washer, or a used wagon salespony, or a garbage wagon puller, or something super-humiliating.

Cerulean's vision of a sucky life is having a career dealing with wagons. :pinkiegasp:

It's nice to see her get along with her father, though.

8634956
What unicorn of stable and sound mind would trust wheels?

Stuff like this is why I cherish MLP so much; because life sucks, the planet is dying, and I have no power to improve anything. Is it any wonder why I’d lose myself in the show and fanfics like this?

I feel for the filly. I really do. T_T

God damn... at least her dad understands!

I'm getting genuinely distressed by reading this.

Holy heck, is Fairweather in abusive relation with her own son? She uses the "I fell" excuse too much.

8635208
Or, you know, it really was an accident in the heat of an intense moment where everything is going wrong.

8635214
That was the way I was reading those phrases, like that's an excuse she often defaults to... Just the impression I was getting. But yeah, heat of the moment is an awful thing.

False allegations of any sort are despicable. But to falsely accuse a man of sexual assault is to intentionally and irreversibly RUIN his life. It doesn't matter if the COURTS decide he's innocent, because simply being accused is enough to make him guilty in the eyes of the public.

8635309
True.

In a school setting though, consent might not be possible, considering there are rules against this sort of thing. No amount of saying it was okay would make it okay, a rule was broken and a law potentially violated.

8635317
The fact of the matter is, that the charge was false. Do you know what a Romeo and Juliet Law is? It's a law that prevents parents from doing shit like this to someone dating their daughters. I had a best friend, who was regularly in the paper doing charity work. He got trophies, and a scholarship, all sorts of things. then he got a girlfriend who was less than three months younger than him....they had sex and her mom found out, then accused him of all sorts of vile shit like Beating her to force her to comply, Because in reality, she knew the court wouldn't buy the Statutory Rape charge, so she made shit up. She NEVER liked him. I live in one of only a few states that DON'T have Romeo and Juliet laws. He's been in PRISON for 7 years, and has 3 more to go. when/if he gets back he won't HAVE a life to come back to. His mother KILLED herself because she thought her son had gone bad. His house is long gone, too. So as far as I'm concerned, if someone pulls that shit, they deserve DOUBLE the sentence their victim would've got, on top of the charge for filling a false police report.

Wow, this is a good reminder that Cerulean is not a reliable narrator. Her dad was... actually pretty fantastic here. Good job with this!

I don’t want you growing up to be the next Lord of Darkness—but I’d still be proud of you if you did

This reminds me of my own father.

For all the shit i went through in school, i never wanted to shoot it up myself.
There has been a few incidents when i straight up got into fights with bullies, but those are guys antagonizing me.
Guess at some point i realized that everyone around me had a pretty shit life as well, somethign that lead them to this kind of behavior and thinking this was a good idea to do.

Though i have to say that this kinda escalated rather sharply.

8635343
Sometimes the shitiest people on earth aren't the idiots in office but your next door neighbors.

Goes to show how close to home his writing is hitting though.

Why is the school pressing charges? I understand that they’re being pressed on behalf of another party, but why is the school pressing them? Her parents or other guardian should be pressing them, or possibly the city or Crowns should be pressing them. Not the school.

Either there are bizarre circumstances present wherein the school has a duty to press charges, or there’s a rotten apple in the administration.

8635564
Because they are in charge, and while school is in session, act as the guardians of several thousand kids.

Schools used to do all kinds of things... like pull down someone's pants and paddle them with a board.

8635572
I find this answer to be unsatisfactory, but I accept this as the reality of the situation.

8635585
The fact is that this is not 'earth' presented here, nor is it the equestrai we know from the show. So there are different rules.
Applying to the military wouldn't get you outta shit these days either.

Though yea i struggle with that kinda stuff myself reading the story, applying that this is the form this world takes and all. Ironically it seems that this is kind of a parallel to several other stories in the weedverse, just without someone coming in to help em out right now.

8635599
“Voluntary” service was once not an uncommon way to get out of going to prison, if it was offered. Particularly in the middle of a war.

But as to someone coming to help them, there is no “right now.” No one is coming to help them. This isn’t a story about Tarnished Teapot, or Sumac Apple, or Flicker Nicker, or anyone marked by destiny for some higher purpose.

This is a story about Cerulean Skies, who is Just Some Pony. No one is coming to help them, because with a rare few exceptions, no one ever comes to help anyone: That is the lot of Just Some Pony.

8635627
Hold that thought about Flicker Nicker!

“Flicker, you dense motherfucker! Look out!”

Pretty sure that sums up Flicker's story.
