dont know why the hell you're shitting on maud, she isnt that bad a character for fucks sake, so what if she's socially awkward and unexpressive. fuck, calling her useless for being a geologist when you're SPECIFICALLY looking for ore to mine? in that case, what use is a fucking apple farmer, a meteorologist who, thanks to other worlds not having magic in addition to freaky weather cant even do that, or a baker? why bring ANY of the ponies along?

I'm not personally shitting on Maud. Just at the moment, Einuli's relatively on edge. He's lost half of his dexterity, can't fly anymore (meaning he's crippled). Dash is worried about him attempting something, as she can see he's not right at the moment. And as has been set up, they're out of most materials needed to even repair the ship.
I don't intend to leave Maud being antagonized for very much longer. Their first meeting of her (Einuli and Crew) was her breaking into a locked and secure lab, then assaulting their Captain. It doesn't look good on her. She'll prove that she's more than useful as I don't intend to have her be a side character, like I've reserved Derpy to.
It's a bit more than 'I'm just going to shit on Maud'. Dandy'll be talked down out of his anger, he's looking out for his crew, and every new person who comes along means more resources will have to be spent to make sure they remain safe.
...And none of this would have happened if Pinkie had had the foresight to NOT send her sister up without anyone's prior knowledge.
Yes... the general ban of ponies on the station was only lifted temporarily to allow doctors and other useful personages on board to help save Einuli's life... Pinkie's circumvented it twice, once for a party, and the second time for Maud. It isn't really a good thing to have random ponies onboard, as it is advanced tech that could end badly if someone without the proper know-how messed with it. Which is why Einuli had to explain things to Twilight, whom in Equestria is considered a wonderful scientist and magic user, where out of Equestria... she's clueless. As for why Dash, Applejack, and Starlight are on the mining crew. Applejack's naturally stronger, and will provide a decent support boost, say if someone gets injured she'd be able to carry them. Dash can fly, so her natural scouting ability is wonderful, and two being able to fly without any noisy equipment... well, that's a definite boon. Starlight has magic, just like Twilight so... yeah, she has uses, namely no need for torches or lanterns of any kind. All they (The Crew) knows is Maud is super strong, and a geologist. They don't know her knowledge in Geology. Applejack has priority over Maud for the mining crew due to her previous experience against the Floran pirates.

Like I said, I do not hate Maud. Just... her anti-social behavior plus not really being able to pick up that she shouldn't have gone into the Lab without previous permission... or aboard the ship she wasn't invited onto, it was a set up I couldn't simply skip. I hope the next chapter clears some things up.

*Sighs* sorry, i shouldnt have blown up like that. it's just.....Maud acts a lot....A LOT like my cousin. he's got "high functioning autism", used to be called aspergers i think? he was always really quite and couldnt....connect with other people very well. he was just interested in different things and just....never "got" social interaction, he just didnt think or act the same way as other people. he wasnt quite as monotone as Maud's shown as, but he was as blunt as she was, never understood sarcasm. people at his school and around the neighborhood always picked on him, called him weird or stupid, bullied him, stuff like that. till one day he just....tried to kill himself. took a bunch of pills. we had to take him to the er to get his stomach pumped. he's gotten better the last couple of years, they have him on medication and he talks with a psychologist once a week or so.
i know pinkie doesnt really have an excuse, though personally i'm not certain she doesnt have a mental disorder of her own. like i said, sorry i got so.....pissy. maud just reminded me of my cousin, and the others were acting a lot like how people used to treat him

Oh, don't worry. I know I'm not very well ranked on the Autism Spectrum . I wasn't shitting on Maud in the slightest. And that is a valid complaint. I'd never make something actively tearing down anyone with any mental conditions.

For the longest time I was made fun of in school. I had one friend up until 9th grade when I befriended one of the schools football players over French. Then it all kind of teetered off, even after it was revealed I was a brony. I live in fucking Hickville so... yeah that was a riot.
As for linking fictional characters to real people? That's not stupid in the least, it's empathy, and well, it connects you more with a character. You had perfectly valid complaints, just, it wasn't the path I was going down. I wanted to make those shitting on her feel like garbage when she was found to literally be invaluable.
I just thought I should say that your story got me playing Starbound again. I originally thought the mechs and stuff you were mentioning were mods, since the last time I played there was still tech that worked for resistances, not epps, so I'm going to have to relearn a lot. On that note, besides Avali and Frackin, what mods have you or do you plan to describe in your story?

At the moment, not very many others. If I can find a way to validly work something in, it'll come up. But for now, it's just Frackin Universe, Avali, and the Startech stuff, which is what the storage system of terminals and wireless transmission was based off of. I have had one request to include the Vulpes, and that'll come up at a later time. Somethings will be based off the Avali Modular Mech, and the XS and XL Mech mods. As well as Starchef. If anything else comes up I'll be sure to make note of it in the AN or through some other method... as for my mod list. You're much better off not knowing.
And the ponies in this are similar to the Ponex in the Pony Mod Pack... that'll uuh, be worth notice later.

I’m loving the storyline so far; your writing skills are impressive, attention grabbing, and image inspiring. I absolutely cannot wait to see where this continues to. The characters do seem mildly explosive from a outsiders view, but thinking about how I would react in a similar situation, their actions are more understandable.
