The Restoration of Princess Luna

This fanfic is set between the freeing of Princess Luna from Nightmare Moon and Twilight Sparkle meeting Zecora. It provides a view as to how Luna changes between then and when we next meet her on Nightmare Night, fully restored.

Really, really good. I think you captured Luna exceptionally, and her reaction toward her confrontation with Twilight was spot on.
You wrote Zecora perfectly, including that she didnt speak excessively.
Her return to Canterlot was wonderful.

I wanted to explore how Luna could have evolved between her early public appearances whilst staying true to the character and am delighted you consider that I got it about right.

A nice, morning read You are really great with describing the surroundings and mental state of a character alike. Thank you for providing such a well-crafted piece of the missing transition between the newly appeared and restored Luna. I believe you couldn't choose a better character than Zecora for that role, even if I think that Luna writing her off as a striped pony and Zecora knowing almost nothing of Equestrian history is a little strange.

One thing I'd point out; Try to create smaller paragraphs, reader can't get lost that easily in them as with a 'wall of text'. Also, in dialogue, each speaker should have their separated paragraph. Other than that, really good job!

I do have a soft spot for Luna and have written a few other pieces featuring her,

Zecora is a great character and I enjoy featuring her in my work too, but we know nothing about her prior to S1E09 "Bridle Gossip". I made the assumption (in this storyline at least) that she had arrived from Marezambique not so long back and had little interaction with the ponies since then as they all kept running away from her.

Apologies if there is another more accepted history from other sources; I only base my work on the TV series...

You're welcome. And no need to apologize, I based my assumption on the TV show only as well.

My line of thought was similar to this: Luna ruled Equestria thousand years ago, in that time, I believe she, as one of the rulers, had to be acquainted with other species as well. From the way you wrote it, it also seemed to me that she knew what Marezambique is.

As for Zecora, I believe that she already was in Equestria in the time of the eternal night and while learning Equestrian, she had to find the legend of Mare in the Moon - I believe it was widely known because of the alicorn head on the moon. But as you see, those all are just my assumptions, concerning a tiny spot of the story. I tend to dwell on the tiniest of details a lot. I assure you, the rest was highly enjoyable

Well, whatever our individual interpretations, I hope you would agree that Luna and Zecora are two of the deeper and most mysterious characters in the series.
I enjoy writing about them both and am delighted that this story has sparked such passion; it's interesting to catch other people's opinions especially as you have clearly given the subject a lot of thought.
