The idea that I was sorta going for is that Chrysalis is a normal changeling, but she is also the host for Nightmare Moon, similar to the way it was presented with Luna way back in the season one opener. The Nightmare is an outside entity that gives her more power and makes her bigger and a Queen.
So it's sort of like fusion, but it's more like possession. Either way, it's how Chrysalis wants to be, rather than just some namby pamby little changeling drone.

I've always loved the idea that Chrysalis is something analogous to Nightmare Moon, and this was a great interpretation of it. Bravo.
Edit: also, the faerie rings... dang that's awesome.
Fascinating. An excellent way to explain the nullstone throne and how a leader so poorly suited to a species of infiltrators rose to power in the first place. Headcanon considered, at minimum. Best of luck in the judging.
Interesting but not material for a short one shot. It's like reading the middle of a book. If you're gonna make a one shot and have the ending questioned you need a solid beginning

The beginning would be the whole of the Canterlot Wedding episode, with this scene playing out after Chrysalis and her changeling got the boot from the city.
