My daughter, actually!

The way you depict these characters with memory issues interacting is just beautiful and evokes sympathy. Definitely bookmarking this story.

Poor old George...at least his final years were spent well with Twilight.

While I really want a sequel, I suppose enough justice has been done already.

ok I guess I liked this story

This hit closer to home than you know. I saw my grandfather lose himself over the first several years of my life. He had my grandmother and his children with him, thankfully. Sadly, by the time I could've really appreciated the man he'd been, he was barely responsive.

Thank you for an impactful and respectful look at neurodegeneration through the lens of ponies on Earth. Best of luck in the judging.

I don't understand, what happened to Twilight?

She went back to Equestria as she had figured out that she the one who had cast the spell in the first place. Somehow, Twilight had heard Louise’s deathbed prayer and sent herself to Earth in order to help George in his final days. After he passed away she finally was free of the spell, recovered her memories, and was able to send herself back home.

Oh.

Whew, that's a real relief.

For a moment I thought she had ceased to exist because she had been created by George's psi abilities and died with him. Ah. Good to know I was wrong there.^_^

Well... maybe she was. But maybe all of this only happened in Twilight’s imagination. And maybe we’re just all part of someone elses’ dream, and we’ll all disappear when he/she/it/Haruhi wakes up!
Either way, the message is the same: our time on this earth is limited, so let’s take care of each to make it as sweet as possible. That’s why Friendship is such Magic!

I have to say, I quite liked this story.

The ending was a bit abrupt, but that’s my only complaint.

This was an nice little pony in the human world story, helping to cover the importance of friendship and the impact we have on each other.

Lowkey, Sophie seems like she’d be a fascinating protagonist in a minor sequel/spin off. How old was she when Twilight left? How is her outlook on life changed by her advice coming from an alien she’s knows exists, and by proxy, Magic also exists. It wasn’t the point of this story, but it’s got my brain a going

Thanks for the feedback! Someday I hope to come back to this story and flesh it out a bit more. The suggested sequel with Sophie is actually something I might consider as well, should I get back to writing more fiction than I have of late.
