Mama used to love birdwatching before she passed on. Fortunately for Applejack, she carried the tradition long enough to meet a real live angel. Or somepony close enough.

That... That was beautiful. Seriously.

It is finally locked in and published in its objectively superior form.

Lick-kisses!

I do love how sweet Applejack is on Fluttershy. There's a smoldering passion there for sure, but all of it is underpinned by just how much affection they have for each other. I'd kind of like to see something from Fluttershy's p.o.v. to see exactly how she sees Applejack.

Well? That (sequel) story isn't gonna write itself.

Pure, unadulterated fluff, and I love it.

Aww, so sweet <3 It's such a rare ship, but it works perfectly here. Thank you for this. It's like a blend of bittersweet, romance and fluff.

I´m not into shippings, but this stoy sure was cute. Nice work, man!

Applejack looks like a guy licking Shy's lips.

This is made of distilled sweetness. My pancreas will never forgive you. :rainbowlaugh:

Oh my God! It's so warm and cute. I love it:heart::twilightsmile::heart:

What's with the dislikes? I'm genuinely curious. There appears to be a weird trend in the featured box.

People always get their shorts in a wad over something, in my experience. It is sort of funny to see how quickly this one's accumulated downvotes without any comment to indicate why people don't like it, though. So right now, all I can really guess is based on the shipping preference, the narrative style, the fact that I didn't change old writing to appropriately describe Pear Butter, and maybe a few other things I'm missing. There's a pretty good laundry list of reasons people randomly downvote on this site.

Downvoted for being a Pinkie hater.

I just checked the story stats of everyone in the box.

Near as I can tell, you, me, and that new Starlight-In-Discord-World fic that just entered got hit with a disproportionate amount of downthumbs overnight (we're talking last 7 hours here). It smells premeditated, in all honesty, but I can't prove it as I can't look at this stuff by timestamp.

(EDIT: Huh. Guess it was.)

8278964
I'm not gonna try to throw anyone under the bus here, but I'm also not going to pretend it hasn't happened before. Not like I can control the stupid shit people who do that sorta thing get up to, right?

8278959
Applejack is Rainbow Dash's best friend.

8278968
Yes, but I'd rather it be for a legitimate reason. Even the usual Icky Lesbians Tax doesn't work this quickly.

Applejack is Rainbow Dash's best friend.

Whoa, now, let's not say things we can't take back. :raritywink:

8278975
Yeah, but people do what people do.

And Starlight/her redemption > Sunset's existence.

Fite me.

8278976
DUDE WHAT THE HELL

YOU KNOW THE FIRST RULE OF STARCLUB

ARE YOU TRYING TO GET US ALL KILLED

8278979
You think I fear the Shimmerwhores? Thumbing my nose at Albi was one of the first things I did upon meeting him.

Of course we all love Albi, so really it's just giving him a little tough affection ;)

APPLEJACK LOOKS LIKE A DEER IN THE COVER ART SO I DOWNVOTED THIS STORY BASED ON THAT SOLE FACT EVEN THOUGH I DON'T ACTUALLY HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST DEER, THEY ARE CUTE AND TASTE GOOD SO IT'S PROBABLY SOMETHING ELSE BUT THAT'S ALL I COULD THINK OF TO REASON MY DOWNVOTE.

Your cap-shouting and profile picture gave me a jump scare.

Any fic that includes cute birds and even cuter loverbirds is and upvote from me.

Woah, what happened? At least 10 downvotes jumped over to upvotes...

Alt abuse. Bookish Delight, Seventh Heaven, and I got hit pretty hard. Fortunately, our mod team stepped in and swung a hammer.

8280014
Oh, okay. That's good, because this story obviously didn't deserve all those dislikes

8280110
I wouldn't presume to say what stories do and don't. It was slightly jarring to see since there weren't any comments hinting at something that might cause so many users to downvote it with such frequency, like my portrayal of Applejack's narrative or Fluttershy in general. Other than that ... meh.

This story is gay. :twilightblush:

Glad to hear that whoever used alts to downvote your story got rekt.

8280836
And lo, the moderation team descended from on high with banhammers raised and vengeance in their eyes ...

Or maybe that was just the hot sauce from Chipoltle's. Idk. But yeah, thanks. I like to earn my downvotes the proper way, amirite? :P

8281046
Go me, I guess? lol

8281051
Lol yeah. Any idea who it was? There was this dude named CW who straight up told me to kill myself haha. I later found out that he made nine alts to harass me and others. XP

8281084
CW sounds like a familiar abbreviation. I haven't really interacted with anyone outside a few discord groups, so it's either someone who knows a guy (always fun) who's listened to me gripe about their waifu, someone who doesn't like whatever they've seen in my blogs (perhaps, I mean who knows?), or someone who desperately needs a better hobby. And that last one, coming from a fanfiction writer, is really saying something XD

I've read a lot of ships on this site. And I have to say, without a doubt, that this is one for the record books.

Most write either Twijack or Rarijack. Hell, there's even a few kicking around that pair her with Spike. But to see a Flutterjack written this well is a rare treat.

Kudos mate.

8281094
No, I meant that CW was his actual username, not an abbreviation. I think it's rather funny that people choose to waste their lives harassing people on the internet, and most of them try so hard that it's laughable.

Good god this was sweet

8278968
You are aware that Fluttershy is Rainbow's best friend, right? And has been since they were fillies?

8283332
Nah, bro. Clearly it's Applejack.

8283334
Alright, dude. Not sure what show you watched. I mean, it's not like Rainbow was having Applejack practice cheering to accompany her to the Best Young Fliers competition.

8283341
It's not like I'm very clearly joking around with a few friends and some random on fimfic came along taking things too seriously.

Oh, wait.

8283344

8283341

Everyone knows Sweetie Belle and Dash are besties.

8283344
Nah, I know, fam. :D

I've never read this particular ship before and now I dunno how to feel about that. Then too, I don't really have attachments to certain ships (Mono need not know that), so if it's well written I can buy in.

This was lovely, and thank you for it. Whatever nonsense went on with the downvotes clearly came from some kids who are just about dead inside, and didn't read it. They should have, mighta kindled something for em and they'd be better off. I teared up a bit, really beautifully done.

8310292
If you're wanting more AppleShy to help figure that out, I'd recommend Where Earth Meets Sky. I'm pretty sure it's the first shipfic I read and enjoyed (in any fandom), and even aside from setting me down a road of pairing ponies off, it's a beautiful depiction of all the characters, with some of my favorite scenes even still, from a time when Google Docs and EqD were the primary way of sharing stories. Even if Cloudy Skies would probably have voted Pinkie. Everyone coming to this in the future or who isn't in the AppleDash group is going to be so confused by the comments here. Personally, I'm not sure why the two of them never caught on to the same extent the other ships did, but given my history with that fic, I might be slightly biased.

Anyway, Carapace, this is a wonderful take on the two of them. Part of it might be that I'm in the middle of drawing someone I care about as well, but AJ feels really real, and Fluttershy seeming a bit more idealized fits the perspective perfectly. Along those lines, the entire thing almost reflects the picture, the peripheral foci roughed in with just enough time spent to compliment the core of the story and to thank them for what they do, while the ponies are rendered in loving detail -- down to the mussed barbs or each particular nuzzle -- but unfinished in a way that doesn't detract from the effect; it becomes a way of saying "there ain't no way to capture everything, but I figure this might get my heart across better'n if I laid out every little hair exactly." Thank you for letting us share that.

Thanks for the recommendation; I'll give it a look. I've read a few by that author but not that one so I look forward to it.

This had an innocent, high-school-crush air about it. Props for unconventional ship, unconventional plot, and puppy love.

That was one cute fluffy story, good job ^^
