This . . . to call this the best chapter of Blueblood—how in the world did you top The Witch?!—the best chapter from your works, or the best grimdark fic in existence all seem understatements. I think this is the one of the very best things on FimFiction.

Just thank you, I guess, for this utter monstrosity of a fanfic. Your writing and terrifying adherence to depravity are truly inspirational. Whatever it is that you do, just keep doing it.

Let's see. . .

One thing that stood out to me was the black comedy.

"We're going to make her twenty percent shorter in ten seconds flat."

I thought this was clever, and worked with the idea of key-trait subversion you've made use of so far, while putting a queasy, comedic spin on the lines delivered by such a abhorrent creature as the Prince. Despite the morbid atmosphere of the fic, I thought this line functioned well, and, quite honestly, had to be referenced before Dash ate it. . . . Oh. Bad idiom. Well, you know. I'd be interested to see a sort of black humor (esp. based on referencing quotes lifted from the show) woven into the dialogue.

On the topic of trait subversion, this chapter was just perfect. I liked her cast as a nun. What better to embody loyalty? I also enjoyed that her character was most fundamentally loyal to the children though, and betrayed her religion for their well-being. That was beautiful. And Blueblood's final words to her were well-chosen.

I'm curious to see if the hunchback (whose introduction felt a bit random, honestly) will come back as a Chekov's gunman of sorts. That would tie things together nicely, I think.

And I liked seeing the Prince with his guard down. That was new, and cast a different light on his character for sure. I mean, his actions weren't surprising, but I do feel it afforded him some depth.

"Locks to keep ponies out have never been an issue before," Blueblood said calmly as he walked over to the window and closed it shut, "I find it much more pragmatic to focus on locks which keep ponies inside."

What a deliciously evil line.

Those were my main thoughts. If I think of others I'll add them too, but all-in-all I thought those were its most outstanding qualities.

Oh, and I saw earlier your mention of a possible spin-off? Yes.

Thanks! I liked a lot of those lines as well. One of my favorite scenes though was Soarin's backstory. I liked that he was bi, as opposed to a "strictly straight" rapist.

We also see another side of Filthy Rich. Out of all of Blueblood's libertine friends, Filthy Rich has been the most sadistic. The flashback showed that Filthy Rich cares about more than merely causing others pain. Sometimes he just likes having a good time and being the bottom bitch.

"Filthy Rich made his selection after conducting a queer orgy in which he was buggered by all willing candidates. Soarin' stood out as the clear winner, as his cock was one of the most beautiful and majestic tools Filthy Rich had ever laid thighs on."

Yay for diversity! It is cool that he's bi, though, bisexual males being probably the most underrepresented orientation in the fandom. Also, I really do have a solid frame of reference for what his genitals look like by now. Do you suppose Spitfire might make an appearance as well?

And, yeah, that's a good point about Filthy that I hadn't given much thought. Seeing him move a bit beyond two dimensions was a nice touch. Looking toward more development of the other libertines (Fleur and Fancypants, for instance) is quite promising as well, I think. Especially the sides of them that they don't present to their victims or their superiors. Just a thought, anyway.

Another thing I wanted to bring up: Soarin's rape of Dash worked very well. It reminded me a bit of the first chapter, actually, representing the betrayal by a idol present in the show, but with the connection not stated in the alternate universe. It was a nice way to undermine just one more aspect of this spin-off universe's wholesomeness and demonstrate its dismal moral bankruptcy. I have the sad.

The hunchback (and Invictus) were references to 120 Days of Sodom. They're two of the studfuckers the libertines bring in (although the original Invictus was better endowed). I tried to find a copy of 120 Days online, but I'm lazy. I did find this page, though. Invictus and Bum Cleaver are described at the bottom. Also, take a moment to enjoy the fact that there is a thing called bigdicklit.com. And, no, it is not a porn site, just literary quotations about large penises.

One of the things I love about this story, it takes two of the most opposite in the world things, and it mixes them together with an eye for detail and homage that would make Twilight proud.

I like the little things in this chapter. Blueblood is starting to come together as a character in spite of himself (his resentment of his aunts, his paranoia, concern about his looks at the end). Despite all his "power," he's only a child at the feet of two adults, running on borrowed time which drives him to be even more vicious to those in his power. He may philosophize about fate and whatever, but he's just like his victims: scrambling like a rat in a trap.

Since I have so many other stories currently in the works, it may take awhile before the next Blueblood update. I've been working on this chapter (The Assassin) for a while to get it just right. The next two chapters are still in rough draft form. If I'm lucky, I can have the next chapter finished by the end of the year.

Now, to provide a serious review, I'd like to let you know that this was a good smack in the face for me. While reading this chapter, despite all hints of diving deep into depravity, I was the idiot who didn't expect the...last meal part. Dear God.

Really, I'm ashamed of myself. Not for reading this, but for being such a moron. Not expecting such disgusting, inhumane, and...fucking astounding acts being put to text (on the internet of all places) is something that makes me feel like a fool.

Granted, the act is much more creative than what the average reader may come up with. But this is why I love this story.

While I'm not one to believe that we're all animals, to deny that we have the capability to perform such animalistic acts is simply the product of me living in the dark. I guess when I was trying to link this story to politics, I was merely trying to cover up for the fact that these stories provided a hard enough and somewhat addictive smack across the face for me. Images such as these can't be anything that I'm foreign to, considering the vast amounts of shit out there. I guess it's just something that I know is wrong, something that I know I shouldn't enjoy.

But why shouldn't I? If God gave me a brain, why wouldn't he want me to use it? I can't deny how there were parts that made me laugh, as well as parts that made me ever so slightly turned on....

Maybe that's why people like me can't stop reading. It's an exploitation of all that is hidden and immoral, and that makes it very interesting. We have a character that knows what makes an act deplorable, simply because his aunts invented morals. A character who uses the hidden truth of these morals to his advantage and exploits it. It's interesting, amusing, as well as (despite how much I didn't want to admit it) slightly arousing.

I guess I'm losing control of my life.

But, then again, to quote your literary comparison,

I actually feel sick. Which is a first, actually. I mean, I'm completely aware of what people do to each other on a daily basis... but this somehow was on a different level of real. Hyperreal, if you will, which is quite unreal, but it doesn't feel that way.

I derive no pleasure from reading this. The only reason why I keep reading is my hope that Blueblood gets it in the end. You mentioned Caligula, he died quite young... I just hope that whoever kills Blueblood in the end will do it with more prejudice. If he dies in the end. If not, I think I might actually write a different ending, just for my personal closure... and probably delete it right after I finished.
