There are several reasons. Most of the downvotes I believe comes from people clicking over onto this story from the front page, just to discover that it had content which they do not enjoy and hence showed their dislike by downvoting (which isn't why the downvoting feature exists, but we can't stop people from using it like as such). This is after all a page for all kinds of writing and not just kink and fetish related works.
Like previously said, it doesn't really bother me. The stories are uploaded for the people that enjoy it, and there are obviously those who do.
