7797633 I think so. I like Rainbow, but Celestia knows she's stubborn. Once she gets a thought in her head it's hard to let it go. This is a hard situation for everyone and she's not helping.

7797860 If you've seen the Holiday Special comic this is based off of, Rainbow's the only one in character. The five of them turned on Sunset without even giving her a chance to speak and left her crying on the floor (and yes, it does take place after Rainbow Rocks). This is a what if the mane 5 weren't completely horrible version of that story.
Um, the start of the chapter mentions that Applejack and her five friends are waiting and that the six of them stopped talking before Equestria Girls... So who's the sixth friend?
Anyway, I look forward to seeing more.
A very interesting concept. I can't wait to see what kind of misery these events will bring.
I won't be too surprised if body language played a major part here. It can give away how a person actually feels about something (in this case, Rainbow Dash). Sunset quickly caught on and considering everything she been though, including the Mane 5 also mistreating her in Rainbow Rocks (something you pointed out in Bitter Tears), she decides it's just not worth it anymore.
How the Mane 5 acted here is what should had happened, considering the past. They lost years due to not trying to find things out. Here, they (well, excluding Rainbow) try to find out, only to have Rainbow screw it up for them with her stubborn belief Sunset was guilty.

Yeah, the original Anon-A-Miss story really bothered me. It's like the friendship lesson of trust didn't seem to stick. At least ur version Sunset won't be alone, but she will still feel a bit steamed. Hopefully, it will pass and they can work together to uncover ANON-A-MISS. BTW, as a suggestion, how about they include Flash? Sure, Sunset and Flash had history, but perhaps he could at least have some kind of role? I mean, he was introduced in the first Equestria Girls, but then his role seemed to diminish and he's basically an extra. Just an extra despite having history with Sunset.

7811742 The original comic was pretty likely set before Rainbow Rocks, at which point Sunset's friends only said they trusted her while still treating her like dirt. That they would just walk out on her is perfectly in-character there.

Actually it's set after Rainbow Rocks, which is a big part of the reason why the Rainbooms walking out on Sunset makes no sense.
While I can understand the girls being upset, please remember that so far the Crusaders have only spread news on their sisters and NOT spread news on the rest of the school.
7813099 It apparently was originally before Rainbow Rocks, but the writer used the journal and instead of changing the journal scene, set it post Rainbow Rocks. That's just what I've heard, but he has confirmed it takes place after the movie (and it has to, due to the journal).
A short chapter, but it sets a good transition since they wanna get this done. And next...the fourth act!

Huh. Feels kind of like a plot hole caused by changing the setting and not the characterization. It definitely fits more pre-RR. I mean, there's even a scene in the RR credits of Apple Bloom and the CMC being nice to Sunset. And having the Rainbooms just forget that Sunset's good now twice doesn't really add up. Either that, or the mirror world just isn't a very nice place to live.
Meh. The comics already have dubious canonity at best, and since this is fanfiction, anything goes so long as the story is clear about what happened and what didn't when it matters.

If it took place before Rainbow Rocks, yeah, it would make sense. But the inclusion of Sunset's journal where she writes to Twilight about her problem implies post-RR. But the canon of the IDW comics is rather questionable.
But before Apple Bloom could press "send", Scootaloo's bedroom door exploded open and her phone was forcibly swiped from her hand. Apple Bloom's heart pounded in her chest as she slowly turned to face the furious expression on her big sister's face.

I like this version. There's more logic put into it and also shows "actions have consequences". TheCMC getting off scot-free without even a scolding bothered me. I think Applejack will have to tell Granny Smith and Big Mac about what Applejack did.
But now what Sunset will do? Will she feel bitter? Hopefully this doesn't sour their Christmas.
