Being a father can be difficult. It comes with a lot of responsibility, trial and error, and stress.
All of that gets doubled when your daughter is an alicorn.
Ever since Flurry Heart was born, Shining Armor has been going through a lot of stress trying to keep his daughter safe. Luckily, Princess Cadance has been by his side the entire time, keeping him sane and happy. However, when an important meeting takes Princess Cadance away from him, Shining Armor is left alone with Flurry Heart and all of the responsibility that comes with her.
It's not an easy job. Especially when Flurry Heart manages to sneak into the city without leaving a trace.

So stupid.
I sort of have an issue with this set up, because it looks like it falls into the "dumb dad doesn't know how to take care of his kid" stereotype. I know he's a new father, but it's disappointing that Shining has so little faith in his own parenting abilities. And it's weird that he's worried that Flurry Heart will find him boring or unimpressive. She's a baby. Babies think almost anything is interesting because their experience is so limited. Hell, my 11 month old niece is entertained just by clapping.
It's too bad because your writing style is good on a technical level, it's just Shining's characterization that I take issue with.
Oy, I wonder how Spitfire is going to react when she finds out she apprehended Flurry Heart?
This story is quite amusing. I might just start tracking it.
7540740 I can understand that criticism, although that is sort of the arc I've set up for the story. It's all about Shining Armor overcoming his fears about being a parent and beginning to understand Flurry Heart more as his daughter. It's not that he's dumb or incompetent; he knows exactly what he's doing. He remembers when to feed her, put her to sleep, etc. It's just that he's afraid of leaving a bad first impression or messing up in such a big way that something terrible happens. He's not a stupid father who has no clue what he's doing; he's just insecure. The story is mostly about him getting over that while he looks for Flurry Heart.
That being said, I still understand where you are coming from, and I'm glad that you have given me feedback.
