This story is a sequel to Shadowbolts Adventures: Regression

Aria Blaze hasn't done anything since they lost their magic at Canterlot High and were found by Sunset Shimmer. She simply doesn't feel like anything is worth doing... which leads her to wonder why she's still here at all.

Am I required to read any of the stories before this to understand what happens in here?

Really good. We need more fics about the Sirens in human history, and about the Sirens and Starswirl.

The direct prequels are in the description, but that's really just if you need clarification for how they got precisely where they are. I don't think it's really required to enjoy it, no.

Okay, then. I'll be sure to give this a read as soon as possible.

"Theworstsayswhat."

I instantly thought of this comic when I read that. This story was good, I enjoyed getting to see Aria's character explored. She is by far the most underrated siren-not that there's anything wrong with the other two.

For a "Shadowbolts Adventures" story with no shadowbolts, that was pretty good.

If they can call movies without ponies "My Little Pony" I can call a story with no shadowbolts "Shadowbolts Adventures".

Interesting. Not often I see the sirens' pre-Rainbow Rocks history. And finally some development with Starswirl!

7238255 actually you can consider Sonata a shadowbolt because she attends the school and is good friends with Sour Sweet

I don't really know whether to classify this as depressing or not. I get where Aria is coming from 80 years probably only feels like 18 for someone whose lived for 1,000 years, though you could easily argue those years weren't really much living as they were just running from one place to another.

Part of me felt genuinely sorry for her, since thinking about dying isn't how a person should live, they should focus on living and frankly simply wasting away would probably be the worst kind of thing a person could do.

I do hope there is more to this and Aria eventually finds something that makes her happy to be alive. Atleast that's what I hope for.

Adorable.^^

Nice to see that someone else has noticed how inanimate objects can retain their magic in the human world. That's actually going to play an important role in my stories later.

Before reading: I said long ago that Aria was "criminally" underused in your stories. Now there's a story devoted to her. Hm-hm-hm. I'm gonna go ahead and assume that this is thanks to me. And here's a preemptive like too.

After reading: Well.. you've struck gold with me here, sir. I'd give you more likes if I could for that. I think I also said once in your comments that of the three sirens, Aria would definitely be the one to attempt suicide. I'm convinced, this is exactly how she should be written.

And since I'm in such a good mood, here's a musical accompaniment for Aria's inner state of mind. Ironically, it's called "Adagio."

7240917 Thank you, it's such wonderful music.

Ah, always glorious to see the Sirens history being explored like this. Especially through the eyes of the underrated second in command Aria. Seriously, every fic relegates her third in importance to the Dazzlings. Even the ones where she's prominent she still gets screwed over.... With that said, this is a refreshing change of pace. One that I wouldn't mind coming back to every now and then.

Gah! Such a roller coaster of emotions!
Sunny and Shining's thing, then Lemon and Vinyl's rough patch, now catharsis for Aria?! I can't take it! Why must you play this game of emotions with my heart?! :raritydespair:

I love these stories, you did a good job making the shadowbolts and dazzlings sympathetic characters! Fantastic job on your part!:scootangel:

"Ook! Ook!" Sonata flailed her limbs against the ground. "I like yelling! And bananas!"

I don't think that's what she meant sonata. :ajbemused:

Starswirl chuckled. "What could I say? After a thousand years of memories, it almost seemed silly to walk up to you girls and say 'I'm sorry'. I have been watching and waiting... watching Sonata in my classroom getting along with the other girls, watching Adagio go to her job and get along with her coworkers... watching you."

He has a point there. :applejackunsure:

Aria blinked slowly, looking back and forth in front of her to make sure nobody could see her. When the coast was clear, she closed her eyes and let her cheek rest against Adagio's shoulder.

Even when times are tough, they all still care about each other. :ajsmug:

That's a great story that gave me inspiration. Just one problem. Scenes from different time in history aren't divided by anything and It's pretty confusing
