How does Celestia know the things she knows? How does she relate to her "nieces" and "nephews"? What is friendship? What is harmony?

    What is she.

    Hmmm... Interesting.

Reminds me a bit of Men in Black 3, namely of Gryff.

Her certainties dissolved like a drop of blood in water, but behind them was the solid and simple truth of all life that wants to keep on living.

That. That right there. God damn I love the language in this piece. Seriously some of your best work to date!

Ooh. A very interesting and evocative look at the Princesses, and what I think is a completely unique take of the reasons behind Nightmare Moon. Nice! :trollestia:

Good to see this put up here. I originally found this through the Darkest before Dawn docs and was admittedly disappointed when I realized I had read this before and wouldn't be reading something new. But alas I really enjoy this story and I love your concept of how Celestia and Luna are deities and your take on harmony and chaos. I wonder if Discord, in your canon, can also see all these possibilities and what his perspective is on mortals.

In this story, my take on it is that Celestia and Luna are very powerful and are very... different, but I wouldn't exactly call them gods. I just figure that the same rules that everyone else follows do not necessarily apply to them.

As for Discord, he is more of a personification of chaos rather than an entity from outside. He is much like the princesses in many aspects, but is tied to the world so utterly that even they couldn't help him escape it, not even for a moment. On a fundamental level he is much more mortal than either of them, and at the same time, much less.

You fucking nailed this with Darkest before Dawn, and it is still just as engrossing and imaginative as it was before.

    /salute, good sir.

I found this to be a very interesting look at Celestia and Luna’s nature and their origins. I really like how you portray these two characters, and I hope to see more in the future.

He is the prettiest Princess, and if you say other wise, I'll cut you....

some slack, because that is your opinion.

I don't care what the EQD pre-reader thought, the present-tense portion was wonderful.

    I .. love it. :raritystarry:

It's a very ionteresting interpretation of the princess' powers and their origin.

Also the switching of time is something, that cannot be found often. I think you managed this well.

Very interesting. My only question is, what about Discord? He ties in pretty closely with all this.
