The description of the pain of being turned to stone is very vivid, and Discord's panic and disorientation at his transformation is really well done.

Basically, what they did was the same as Starlight Glimmer, except, instead of simply removing his Cutie Mark, they tore it to shreds while it was still on him. A lot more painful, and a lot more permanent.
