I have to say, aside from the horrible event that made me crying above, the story didn't really shock me. I've read quite a few horror fics here already, but this one didn't even scare me slightly.
And that's not because of bad ideas. It's just that you don't give the events, and especially the atmosphere, enough time to develop.
The skips between the dream parts come too abrupt and bring you as a reader too quickly into non-scary environment and before you can really get scared, the story is already over again.
But it's good that you tried. Trying is the first step to success. You just need to work on how you present the horror.

Wow, this is like an MLP version of Nightmare on Elm Street! I felt so bad for Sweetie Belle in this story. I was so glad to see Sweetie and her fellow crusaders, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo, finally get their cutie marks last season (and I can't wait to see how they help other fillies, or colts for that matter, find their super special talents in season six), but the mare in Sweetie's dreams who torments the poor filly (and ultimately kills her) doesn't have her cutie mark. I remember hearing that bad dreams are generated from an internalized fear, but since I've never pretended to be a psychological expert I can't say much about that.
I liked how you portrayed Apple Bloom and Scootaloo as wanting to help Sweetie but not knowing how to, and Rarity trying to console her sister. I felt so bad for Rarity at Sweetie's funeral, but at the end seeing this strange mare looking on like an equine Freddy Krueger. This was a really good fanfic debut, hopefully I'll see more fics from you soon.
They say "If you die in your dreams, you die for real". We often end up creating our own monsters, don't we?

Sweetie Belle's nightmares aren't really based from her fear. I wanted to leave the readers thinking about who specifically that mare was, and and why or how Sweetie Belle got those dreams. I'm glad you liked it!
