Laura had never met her mom. Her dad told her that the two had to go separate ways, because of the medieval laws of her mom's home country. Wanting to have a better life for her daughter, her mom "Chryssie" (a nickname apparently) said that dad should take Laura with him, so she could have a better life.
Now years later, Laura's dad is overseas at the moment. He promised to look up on international laws, in order to get their mother to live with them. Little does the girl know that her mother has plans of her own.

hmm this is really interesting part of me has a mental image of what she looks like even though she's anthro i hope her face is human and when i say human i mean without a snout just as a feature to set her apart as well but i like it so far i hope to see more soon!

Pros:
Nice story idea. I've never seen human crossbreed pulled to Equestria by parents. I'd really like to see what is planned for this. Main character has no real loose ends in her backstory. That's a nice plus in my book. That Laura's father knows what's going on and may show up later is a definite boon.
Cons:
Brony in Equestria. I've only seen a handful of stories where the main character having knowledge of the show was a benifit to the story. I can only think of two right now. And this one is not looking like it's going to be one of those.
Twilight's reaction to a strange creature appearing in Ponyville is to ambush it, knock it out, and chain it up in the basement. Since there was a town wide panic, there's little chance that Laura surprised her, so there goes that excuse. This is looking like Twilight is going to be painted as an unreasonable, paraniod reactionary and be the engine for antonanistic elements for the beginning of the story, if not the whole thing. This goes pretty far against her established character, as she is the most reasonable and tolerant pony in Ponyville. If you want to set her up as the antagonist, you'll need a better introductory scenario to make it belieavable, and if not, then you may want to re-consider this introduction of the characters.
6635529 About Twilight, yes, I am going to the extreme a bit, but I am trying to keep it in reasonable levels. I just can't imagine her not hating the changelings, after what happened. It was an out of the moment idea and re-reading the first chapter myself, I can clearly see the problems, but I am going with this introduction. I will try to improve the quality in the future. And no, Twilight was never meant to be the antagonist, just a little paranoid.
