I must confess, finally got around to this, and heh....
My family used to own horses, and while I could never remember all the terms for horse anatomy, some stuck with me, which bothered me when reading all these fics. But it wasn't until I actually looked it up trying to figure out a better term for 'thighs' (where the Cutie Mark appeared in the one fic and I tried helping the author find a better term) that I realized that forevermore flanks mean fat.
I mean really, you always hear "They're trying to flank us!" and think that they're coming from the back, but no, the flank stretches from the front shoulder to where the hip bone starts. I will never get the image out of my head:That flank means that pudge!
