Sapphire-Moon

E

Trouble has a habit of finding Daring Do... and when she finds herself injured, alone, and the unwitting target for an undead unicorn army, an unlikely partnership with self assured Wonderbolt, Spitfire, might prove her only chance at salvation.

That was a very clever story. How much fun did you have writing that? Be honest. :duck: I could tell you were super into it, and yet despite that it wasn't anything like a mindless romp in Equestria with poorly written canon characters and barely explained environments. You clearly put a lot of thought into the setting and direction the story should go.

I especially liked how Ahuizotl wasn't even the main villain. That, along with a few other parts, had the story keep me guessing, which is a tough thing to do in fanfiction.

A few qualms were that I think your characterization of Spitfire was a little off, and it felt at times like you were trying too hard to convince the reader that her and Daring Do are awesome. Then again, that just made me feel like I was reading DD fanfiction from Rainbow Dash herself :rainbowlaugh:

"Also, I wanted to mention/ask why you're using single quotes around the dialogue. Is that a thing somewhere? Because I've only ever known it as double quotes."

Thank you so much for your kinds words ^_^
I certainly did enjoy writing the story - it used to be longer, but the Everfree Contest has a word limit... *Sniff*

You might be right about Spitfire; I'm not especially au fait with the character. Still think she's pretty awesome though!

In answer to your question: 'single quotations are a British thing' :moustache:

Thank you for the vote, I am indebted to you!

Hello. Just letting you know that for reasons explained here, I've added your story to the Goodfic Bin (what with me being a story approver there and all.

Have a good one!

:rainbowdetermined2: Thank you for reading... glad you enjoyed the adventure.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on the pacing. I desperately wanted to flesh it out, but 3K word limit... what is a pony to do? I might upload a fuller version at some point.

5834556 I know. Both my stories had similar issues. I was even told by Olcahoun (or however you spell that monstrosity) so shave one down so it'd fit the word limit.

The pains we writers must endure! I bet A.K. Yearling is never told to stick to a word limit! :raritydespair:

5834592 I did enjoy the challenge it presented though, and as a fan of one-shots especially, it did make for some interesting reading. That said, I think that if the limit had been 5K, not 3K, it would have made a big difference for a lot of more complex stories out there (like yours, for instance).

Anyway, thanks for the read. If you're on the lookout for cool stuff to read, stick around the Goodfic Bin: there's a lot of good people working there to find nice stories.

‘Everypony wants to be a Wonderbolt!’

New favorite line.

I liked the little hints you peppered throughout the dialogue regarding Daring and Spitfire's past. The banter between the two was also amusing.
