Glad you finally got a chance to read it! And yeah, I know I put in a unique mix into this story, but that's cause I want to get the reader to read between the lines and see what I'm hitting at.
This is actually really good. I saw all the hints you threw into this story as well. I kinda always wanted to get a little more insight to Twilight's and Spike's past before they went to Ponyville and something like this could fit nicely as a headcanon. Also glad to know she actually misses it too sometimes.
Now I must make a similar Spike story with a specific mare mentioned in the first episode.
