The Little Rainbow (Revised Version)

Chapter 3

Rainbow had gotten into the tub shortly after AJ had left the bathroom, sitting in the the warm water she had cleaned herself up for the most part. "AJ?" She called out as she looked at the door, smiling when she saw AJ look into the bathroom with a concerned look on her face. "Something wrong sugar cube?" AJ entered the bathroom and crouched down beside the bathtub. Rainbow simply shook her head as she rested her head on the side of the tub, "Well nothings wrong.. I was just wondering if you would help me wash my hair.. It's just I'm tired and I really just don't feel that good.." Rainbow smiled as she tried to put on a innocent face, gaining a small laugh from AJ.

"No need to try and look like ah little angel, your kinda hard to say no to as it is.." AJ picked up the shampoo that was scented like apples, squirting a little bit into her hands before she began to gently massage it into Rainbow's hair. "I'm not doing it to rough am ah? Haven't washed a child's hair in months since the family moved away.." She let out a small sigh as she used a cup that she hadn't removed yet and filled it with some of the bath water, slowly pouring it on Rainbow's hair to get the soapy suds out. AJ repeated this process a couple of times until she found that all shampoo was out, moving to add the conditioner she was about to ask a question until she found that Rainbow had drifted off to sleep. "Your just so cute.."

After ten more minutes of AJ making sure she had got all the mud of of Rainbow she drained the tub, wrapping the towel around Rainbow and lifting her out of the tub. "Wake up sugar cube.. We need to get you dressed." She smiled when she heard some complaints come from Rainbow, handing her the clothes before she left the bathroom. "Meet me downstairs when your finished, I'll get you something to drink for when your done."

Rainbow rubbed her eyes and threw a little fit like any other child would when they get waken up from a nap, getting dressed she buttoned up the top before slipping on the bottoms. "This is so soft.." She smiled as she rubbed the fabric against her cheek, yawning a little bit before she made her way down the stairs. Once at the bottom she was about to enter the kitchen before thunder was heard, making a loud boom and causing her to jump and let out a small scream. Feeling a little embarrassed that she had been scared by some silly thunder she looked at the ground as she entered the kitchen, looking up as she felt a hand ruffle uo her hair.

"You okay? I didn't think the brave and tough Rainbow was afraid of thunder." AJ teased her a little bit as she carefully picked Rainbow up and handed her the small cup that held apple juice inside. Rainbow blushed as she was teased, looking down as she was picked up until she was handed the cup of juice. Her mood changed direction as she smiled and looked at the cup, pressing the glass against her lips and began to slowly drink the juice till it was all gone, handing the cup back to AJ.

AJ set the cup in the sink to be cleaned later and checked the time, seeing it was about noon she decided to try and entertain Rainbow with cartoons so she could make lunch for herself and Rainbow. Carrying her friend out to the living room and setting her down on the couch she turned the television to some stupid channel that played children movies all day long, surprised to see that it caught Rainbow's attention quickly. AJ chuckled to herself as she placed a blanket around Rainbow before she went back into the kitchen and began to peel an orange and slice up two apples, peeling the skin off of a few apple slices in case Rainbow didn't want to eat the skin. Finishing up she carried the plate holding the fruit and a new cup of juice out to the living room.

Rainbow had began hugging the blanket as she watched a movie that had talking animals, all of them working to solve a problem that was happening. She didn't notice AJ had entered the living room until she had sat down beside her, turning her head to look at the plate that AJ was holding. Rainbow moved at sat on AJ's lap and reached for the plate that she noticed was holding had fruits on it. "Let me have it!" Rainbow pouted a little but as she noticed AJ was purposely holding it a little higher, deciding to use some water works right get what she wanted.

AJ lowered the plate when she heard what sounded like sniffling to her, placing the plate on Rainbow's lap she gently placed her hand on top of her head. "Ah.. Dont cry there sugar cube.." She wasn't good with children when it came down to them crying like a baby, gently rubbing Rainbow's back as she let her get the food on the plate and receiving a smile from the smaller one. "Thank you AJ.." Rainbow began to slowly eat the slices of apple that didn't have the skin on it, watching the television once more.

After a few hours Rainbow had eaten a few slices of fruit and fell asleep again AJ, lightly drooling on her shoulder. AJ couldn't help but smile when she saw how cute Rainbow was looking in her sleep, using her thumb to wipe the drool off of the child's chin. Deciding to change the channel so she could see how the weather was at the moment, happy to see that there was going small break for about half an hour. 'Maybe if I'm careful enough I won't wake her up as I take her over to Twilight's house..' AJ thought you hers as she stood up with Rainbow sleeping in her arms.

AJ had walked into town and was thankful for Rainbow's sake that no one stupid enough to go out during this break was then, making it to Twilight's house right before it started to pour again. After knocking a few times the noise of shuffling through the door could be heard followed by the sound of the door being opened, "Sorry, the Library isn't open until next we- Oh it's you AJ.. Dont you know it's not safe to be going out right now, even thought there's a break in the weather.. Who's the child?" Twilight moved aside and let AJ inside before closing the door, walking behind AJ as they went to the main sitting area.

Before Twilight said anything else Rainbow seemed to have woken up, rubbing her eyes a little bit as she lifted her head off of AJ's shoulder. "AJ.. What are you doing.. I was trying to sleep.." Rainbow mumbled lightly before she rested her head back down, not seeing the disbelief of Twilight's face. "Is that Rainbow?!" Twilight spoke in a hushed tone as she looked at AJ sitting down and setting Rainbow down so she could go back to sleep.

"Wish ah could say it wasn't to be honest.. She showed up at my house right around when the storm started, thinking she was dreaming about being a child again.." AJ let out a small sigh before turning her attention to the noise of laughter coming from upstairs, "Ya got visitors or something? I could stop by later if you would lik-" Twilight laughed a little bit which cut AJ off from finishing her sentence.

"It's just the girls, we had a sleep over last night and invite you and Rainbow but you guys never replied to our messages. We figured you were probably out working and Rainbow was just sleeping like she always does.." Twilight sat down as she began a conversation with AJ, trying to get as many details that she could. "Does anything seem to be off with her at all? Other than her being a child again we need to make sure that her mental state goes back to where her physical state is right now.."

"I haven't noticed anything off, heck she even cussed at me earlier. I think the only think wrong with her is that her attention span is shorter than it was as an adult.. But that makes it easier to keep her occupied, just turn on something that shows her bright colors and she's taken care of for a while.." AJ couldn't help but chuckle as she noticed Rainbow sit up and give her a small glare, crossing her arms and looking down at her lap. "That's not true.." Rainbow mumbled quietly that got a laugh from Twilight, smiling a little bit when she could feel AJ ruffle up her hair.

"We're just playing sugar cube.. You feeling alright though, don't need anything?" Rainbow shook her head as AJ asked her a question, moving to where she sat on AJ's lap and leaned her head back against her shoulder. When she was about to slip back into sleep she heard the sound of someone coming downstairs, happy to find it was Fluttershy instead of one of the others.
"Is everything alright down her Twilight.. The others are having a little fight about proper ways of eating... Oh hello AJ, nice to see your safe during this storm.. Have you heard from Rainbow at all? I haven't been able to contact her.." Fluttershy made her way to the bottom of the stairs before looking over at Twilight and AJ, noticing the child she walked closer and sat down beside AJ. No one even had to say anything to Fluttershy, "Why is she a child..?" She pointed at Rainbow and looked at Twilight.

"That's what we don't know yet Fluttershy.. How were you able to even know it was her at first glance?" Twilight at AJ looked at Fluttershy with an amazed look and made the shy person look down a little bit. "Well.. Um.. I've known Rainbow since we were little.. It wasn't that had really.." Fluttershy lightly bit her lower lip as she messed with her hands, looking up to see Twilight about time say something before shouting was heard from upstairs.

"That is NOT the proper way to eat cake Pinkie! Just look at the mess you've made.. It's absolutely horrendous!" AJ chuckled as she recognized there voice to be no one else's but Rarity's, complaining about a simple mess. The four downstairs watched as two people covered in what looked like sweets came down the stairs, one obviously pissed about her hair and the other one smiling like idiot.
