Rainbow Dash pulls a prank on Twilight. When it back-fires, she learns a valuable lesson from the Crusaders about touching Twilight's books.

This was written for a one-shot competition a while ago, and it is my first published... well, anything. That being said, I'll never learn anything if everyone takes it easy on me, so bring it on. I already know I need work, though, so if anyone could tell me in any detail greater than "Mmhmm, you need work", that would be very much appreciated.

I don't know why, but I'm particular fond of 'Twilight goes ballistic when someone damages her books and kicks ass' fics.

At last twilight joins in a prank back and its more evil than i thought

Prank? This wasn't a prank. This was an object lesson about disrespecting and/or damaging books. Dash got off easy. Just look at what happened to Tirek after he destroyed the library.

Now you know not to mess with her books, Dash.

Ahhh....truly hell hath no fury like that a magically prodigious librarian whose books have been damaged. Nicely done!

YOU ASKED FOR IT :flutterrage:

~two minutes of reading later~

Okay. I'm going to assume you want a general synopsis of what I thought of the fic in general, and not a step by step breakdown of where I found errors and where I didn't.

Overall, the fic was enjoyable. I'm unsure of Twilight shrinking Dash and giving her to the crusaders though, given the Crusader's reputation for destroying things...wasn't she afraid Dash might get hurt? I dunno, this is a comedy though so that's easily overlooked.

Also I'm personally not a fan of Twilight being able to do LITERALLY EVERYTHING with her magic. It's used as too much of a deus ex machinma in other fics that I've read, but again this was a comedy and overall I still enjoyed it despite that, which is saying something. :raritywink:

The fic was really short, but that works well for it. While I think maybe the crusader's time with Dash could be expanded on, overall though it was a great read. I don't think you give yourself enough credit.

edit: My internet double posted my comment for some reason... :l

Thanks for taking the time to give me feedback. :twilightsheepish:
I figured Twi supervised them during Twilight Time (though I could be wrong) and that she would step in if something got too dangerous, but maybe I should have had a bit about Twi watching them mess with RD.

I agree with the magic thing. I love magic in many forms, but soft magic systems drive me up a wall. If this was a more serious/longer piece, I would definitely have it be more defined.

I read that and I REGRET NOTHING! Seriously though, hilarious! Loved it. I was worried it would be dark for a moment, but I wasn't disappointed.

5225143
Yeah, I was worried the name "Regrets" might throw people off, but I hoped the Comedy and Slice of Life tags would be convincing enough. It's a compromise I had to accept, as I never would have worked up the guts to submit it if I had sat there trying to find a better name. :facehoof:

Loved it. Very Funny.

This is amazing :rainbowlaugh:

Dash looked over the lip of the balcony, eyeing the door blow her closely.

A rather decent little fic.

Haven't read the story, but wanted to share an amusing coincidence on the front page.

Duuuuuude... Sorta front page, awesome... Popular stories list, awesome... ironic coincidence involving wordplay, awesome.

It's a good day. :rainbowdetermined2:

You want to see someone rolling on the floor wheezing from laughing too hard? Yeah. That's me. Thanks for that, my family now think I'm an even bigger weirdo than they did before. All I have to say is.. I REGRET NOTHING.

That one-shot competition wouldn't happen to have been the Writeoff, would it? :B

5329823
It might've. Is "The Writeoff" a particular competition? I have very little knowledge of these things. :derpytongue2: I believe the only reason I heard about that one was Eakin posted something about it. I think. Maybe that was another one. :applejackconfused:

It's got some followers, yeah. It was originally hosted on Ponychan. I asked because there was a contest, waaay back in 2012 when the writeoff was still new, that featured a story called "Regrets" by an anonymous author, and I wondered if this was the same one. It doesn't look like it, but it could have been majorly rewritten for all I know.

Heh, nicely done. Rather entertaining one shot you got here. I do so love Twilight teaching others to respect the written word. Rainbow can take some comfort out of this as Twilight at least didn't go into flaming alicorn of wrath mode and rearrange her component molecules in a painful manner (I'm assuming this is after she became a princess).

5471247
Thanks!

And yes, she is a princess. I didn't really think about it much, considering the wings don't really matter, and the magic is pretty far-fetched anyway, but it is set after Twilight Time began. I am not sure when Twilight Time actually did begin, but it seemed like it would have happened after she became a princess.

Sorry for never responding. I could've sworn I did, but maybe I never actually posted or something. :rainbowhuh: In answer to your question, no, this can't be that one. I believe I wrote this over last summer, or maybe a bit earlier, but certainly not back in 2012.

All right, thanks for clearing that up. :D I will check this out at some indistinct point in the future, just so this wasn't a waste of your time. :)

Eh, this somehow actually felt kind of dull for me.
If it had been a bit longer, I'd probably have liked it a bit more.

6515118
Fair enough. I enjoy much longer stories as well, I just don't trust myself to write them. :twilightsheepish:

6515238 On top of that, Twilight's actions just seem like she took things a bit too far, even considering her obsession with books.

Dark... I like it.

7825956
Dark? I wasn't intending it to be dark, but I suppose non-consensual major body transformation magic, coupled with humiliation at the hooves of a bunch of children is kinda dark when I write it out like that. :twilightoops:

But it's okay cuz she deserved it.

Also because nothing but pride was permanently injured.

But mostly because she deserved it. :pinkiecrazy:

I find it dark to change your friends appearance drastically and then have her tortured by kids. Then have her feelings hurt but not even realizing it, all for a dumb prank. If I was rainbow dash in that situation, I'd probably kill myself.

7827443
Fair enough. I can see where you are coming from.
