I've got no idea who the dead guy was, it'd make sense to dispose of the weapon for fear of killing each other but at the same time, they got rid of the only real means of defending themselves. Said that before re-reading the chapter. Discord's chaos incarnate, which is perfect. The relationship thing was unnecessary to the story, but enjoyable nonetheless. Now there's this, but I can't see this incarnation of Discord as malevolent considering how he's been thus far and most likely there'll be some ponies who favour undoubted survival over the elements, which may or may not work in another world on an entity from another world. Especially one who lacks a physical form, so they either have to play the game or find a way to kill and/or imprison him and Discord. Not entirely sure why he couldn't keep his human form though. Guessing I overlooked something.
So that's what I have to say.

Hmm. Seems like Discords opinion on Sauron has done a complete 180. Seems to enjoy chaos, but can't see this incarnation as that cruel. Yet. Can picture him stabbing Sauron in the back... or maybe the eye. Back of the eye? And taking over the games, aiming to break minds, send the winners home, get some more contestants, rinse and repeat. It would leave Equestria full of entities who were forced to believe everything they knew was wrong to get back, leaving the entire world in utter chaos!
