The little filly is slightly younger than the CMC. In human terms she's about 6.
As for the 'On Hiatus' status, I had a couple issues with writing the story and decided to cancel it. I picked it back up recently (seeing as I can't just leave that filly alone) and am currently working on getting the problems smoothed out. I plan to get it back up and running early June with the rest of the Maple story arc.
