This story is a sequel to Lyra's Voyages 1: Small Beginnings.
Having gotten a few months of rest and relaxation since her last adventure, Lyra is asked to head out to the mysterious Island of Echidna to speak with its ruler, Princess Medusa. Joining her is lovable former treasure hunter Ditzy Doo, geologist Maud Pie, and the mysterious Ocean Wave, a thouroughly unique mare.
However, disaster strikes Lyra again, and she and her three companions end up on the shores of Lemuria, a land once home to the first true empire in the world.
And the inhabitants are still there
Done good, bro. *Bro hoofs you.*
Must fave that one, too. Can't believe I forgot.
4603002 Thanks! Hope you stick around. and glad to see you have no trouble with the new trend i'm setting.
1st ALIMARICORN OC ON FIMFICTION!!!
4603010
4603023 Stumbled across the Alimaricorn while researching mythical beasts, but details were obscure
4603030 Ah. I guess you're gonna wait until you have more info before doing a blog?
I like this Alimaricorn OC. It gives me faith in the different OC category.
Begun a new era with ALIMARICORNS!!!! I wonder if there are other types of Alicorn-type pony races?
4603183 Come with me, my friend.
WINGED UNICORNS
Alicorn

Incredibly magical, even capable of nudging planetary bodies slightly (what, you actually thought they raised the sun and moon? they only nudge them according to their schedules to make them rise or set earlier!), many myths have been spread about alicorns. However:
they are not immortal (long-lived, yes, but immortal? no)
they are not all-powerful.
they are not gods (Celestia and Luna's mother, Tau Sunflare Faust, was the fourth alicorn princess of Equestria, NOT the creator of the world and everything)
they are not rare (Celestia and Luna have 2 brothers, 1 sister, a mother, a father, a nephew, and a niece who are all alicorns, and in addition, 50% of Las Haygas's population is made up of alicorn citizens.
Buraq
fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2012/216/8/a/kali_goddess__eternal_winter_by_zahpkiel-d59rsb8.png
Buraq are from the continent of Khaan, and either have one horn and four wings, or 3 horns and 8 wings. they are as powerful and long lived as alicorns, but rarer, and more solitary and secretive.
Isomnequus
th04.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2013/303/a/a/celia_by_vanille913-d607obc.png
the most recent breed of equine to appear (appearing shortly before the advent of the Smooze), little is known about isomnequi (night alicorns) at the minute. they resemble bat ponies with a single horn
they are capable of becoming invisible, have excellent night vision and echolocation, and are faster and more agile than normal alicorns, and adult specimens are said to be able to change shape. However, they are weaker than normal alicorns
4603033 Not really.

Ancient and mysterious, the alimaricorns are nomads, traversing the sea and sky with little difficulty, though traversing land offers some difficulties, as does shallow water.

4603273 Alimaricorns are pretty...
I love the scurvy-ridden sea captain with a backstory on how he/she lost his/her arm to a fight against a sea creature stereotype.
Also, that megalodon is huge
4608284 life-sized
4608289
That's what shocks me even more!
4608315 yep. The Eastern Megalodon is smaller, and the deepwater variety is hardly seen
shouldn't 'mine and Maud' be 'Maud and my'?
I do like the exploration of jasconiousi though.
4612624 I'm not sure i see where you're talking about...
4612689
As in, I like how you talked about the giant whales. Symbiosis is always intriguing.
4612764 No, i meant the spelling error.
I feel sorry for killing off the Captain
4612784
Oh. Well, it falls under this example:
Me and Lyra go to the mall vs. Lyra and I go to the mall. If you exclude the 3rd person subject in the equation, then it becomes "Me go to the mall" which is grammatically incorrect. Likewise, if you use "Mine and Maud Pie's backpacks" and remove 'Maud Pie', then you are left with "Mine backpack" which is grammatically incorrect since it is the wrong way to present ownership. The correct usage would be 'Maud Pie's and my backpack', which still sounds weird but not under the English Conventions.
I apologize for the Grammar Nazi lesson.
4613157 I understand what you mean, but could you tell me where the spelling error is?
4613290
4613479 ah. thank you!
4614102
No problem. I was kind of confused by your statements earlier
4614136 yeah... sorry
Dang. Three days of being gladiators for just appearing? I thought Lemurians were more civilized than that!
4631564 These aren't the Lemurians. They're native to lemuria, yes, but the Lemurians are a different species. They were warlords and slave-traders. Mahars are more like incredibly xenophobic scientists
It's alright. At the very least, it conveyed the message of being captured again.
4819254 Yep. Sadly, their new captors are a lot less caring than the Mahars. And a little more technologically advanced
Is it wrong that this chapter made me think of Star Fox Adventures?
4838591 I don't think so... how exactly? I don't know a lot beyond three of the character's names, and a race of intelligent dinosaurs being in it. and something about an evil monkey
4839281
The intelligent dinosaurs also happen to be a lost civilization in the Lylat system. Plus, that art reminds me of the Lightfoot and Sharpclaw tribes.
Also, the evil monkey is a spoiler.
4839711 well, any resemblance is pure coincidence
Those Bloodpriests...
Also, intelligent T-Rexes
4859278 Eh, close enough.
fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2014/052/4/5/mlp__quintaglio_by_princestaghorn-d77gpiv.jpg
There's also an island variant
fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2014/079/8/5/mlp__island_quintaglio_by_princestaghorn-d7ay7f2.jpg
What were those things?
5428348 you'll see!
Oh Celestia, Not a Thipdar!
Wow, you'd expect the dog to know if somethin's comin first. Or would it be the ponies, as natural prey? Or have they lived as sapient long enough to not have their instincts anymore?
7112034 the attackers were both unfamiliar creatures and equine, so they didn't entirely register as a threat for the dog, and the ponies aren't used to using their ancestral senses. they still exist, but they're underused
Colour me intrigued also wondering if the description of this echidna island is a reference to how early Europeans thought that creatures of fantasy lived in a southern continent( they weren't entirely wrong considering kangaroos, wombats and echidnas had never been seen before)
