What's with all these "mares in heat" stories? It's like having a human story were we still fling crap around. Sapient species don't need something that completely controls you like that. I doubt if even the critters in Equestria go into heat. They seem to be intelligent and have sentience.

Addressing your earlier point, from the standpoint of evolution, heat in a sentient species isn't necessarily needed, it isn't necessarily unneeded, either. While the ponies in MLP are almost guaranteed to have no relation to IRL horses, the fact that they're both equine leads me to think that heat in MLP has at least some credibility.

Comparing the characters to actual ponies is like thinking humans still fling their shit and have tails. Maybe a writer can take some creative liberties in that regard, I still think there's absolutely no way that 'heat' even might be canon. If there's one thing I have learned from the fans, is that they're always, always wrong. All there theories and ideas always get debunked with every new episode, and I hardly doubt Lauren Faust would make heat a possibility. She even had to say that marriages are canon, Rainbow Dash isn't a lesbian, different types of ponies can produce offspring, and Mrs. Cake didn't cheat on her husband (the foals were just an excuse to poke fun at the equestrian universe).

And, well, yeah I see your point, but there's no conclusive evidence for either case as far as I'm concerned. I'm a firm believer that impossible is not the same thing as improbable. I like how some writers use heat in fics (but I agree that it's often an excuse for clopfics, which I don't like), as it can add interesting new ways to see the fanon and whatnot.

No its alright (Personally the only reason why i am writing this is because I thought it would be something cool to share with the mature part of the community. Not really a frequent clopfic reader myself.) its just I never knew the "heat" thing was a hot topic issue. Actually to mind spoilers for those interested the Mares-In-Heat do not show up or run the show in this story, but are one of the elements to the story. When the prologue is done (which mainly for explaining one of the types of things that happen), the story will kick off with the mane 6 & co dealing with "sex" issue. An example is the first actual chapter will be about how Applejack runs a night brothel of stallions and while she is still a business mare at heart, still cares for the stallion's well being. Another one talks about rainbow dash being a "breeding mare" having desirable traits that can be passed in to children but never gets to raise them for herself. Basically this story in general will go through their lives as they deal with this issue some will be light-hearted, and whimscal while others will be dark in nature. Hope that helps get an insight to more of the upcoming story. (As always sorry for the grammar.)

403636 Thanks I redid some parts of the story and add some extra to the end. Also you can use that idea thought it would make for some interesting situations and proves to be a real threat to males everywhere. I mean the female can literally rewrite the male to be whatever she wants him to be. Example is gal likes guy. Guy obliviously ignores gal. Gal obsesses over guy, and goes into this heat like trance. Gal attacks guy then recodes him to love her and only her. Even worse she can change his personality to whatever she deems fit. Pretty scary if you ask me.

424402 That's a whole different thing entirely. I think they're referring to how they had to alter that clip in "Last round Up." They took out Rainbow stating Derpy's name, and even changed Derpy's voice to be less "offencive." Derpy was canon, then she wasn't (only the iTunes version, though).
