Does this have any connection to a batman/Superman crossover I once read where The Joker threatened to poison everyone in Metropolis? The Joker said that the only antidote to the poison was in his own blood; it was all a hoax meant to force Supes to break his one iron-clad rule: he would never kill someone intentionally. Basically, it was The Joker trying to break Superman the only way he was vulnerable: emotionally. Batman was able to stop Superman from killing The Joker by exposing the hoax
