The Rising Tide of Night

T

Ponyville has been plagued by terrible murders for the past few weeks. Detective Night Eye has been doing his best to catch the killer, but has been unsuccessful so far. It isn't until he gets a break in the form of Twilight Sparkle and her journal does he finally understand what's been going on in this little town.
The trouble is, why does Twilight Sparkle look so guilty?

I don't get it. You've written one other story to its completion, and now you have this one. There's no comments, no large rating on either story, and you only have one follower. The writing is up to par, but it's like you've slipped under the radar. Is it a sign of things to come, or is this a normal occurrence? In either case, I'm going to get back to reading. This story intrigues me.

3981218 At the moment, I'm putting it down to posting a completed 80k word story all at once and still learning all of the ins and outs of becoming a recognized author here.
Glad you're intrigued, though.

I really want to know what Twilight did and why she was so compelled to hide after doing it.
I'm looking forward to the updates and finding out more.

very interesting.

pinkimania strikes huh?

Unless that's a deliberate clue, I don't think "confession" is the word you want at the end. "Statement" would probably be a better word.

That said, I eagerly await the next chapter.

3997359 While the next chapter will contain elements of a confession, you make a good point. It's really more of a statement.
Fixed.

Damn. Jekyll &Hyde cranked up to 11. Nicely done.

I was expecting this to happen once Twilight thought she saw... something. Still, it doesn't remove from the haunting presence it conveys. Now I just have to wonder: is it real, or is Twilight imagining that as well?

That was quite the adventure you took me on. Although I knew the culprit was Pinkie right when the giggle was first talked about, I could have never imagined how the ending would turn out. And also just... *shiver* Smile HD.
9/10 for the fact that I'm an impatient bastard and almost quit because nothing interesting happened in the first few chapters. Everything else was finely done.

ah fuck, she has returned:pinkiehappy::raritydespair:

4016601 Glad you stuck with it. I realize that it was a bunch of journal entries, and those aren't always very interesting. I was shooting for a bit more realism in that not every day is full of excitement, even in Ponyville.

4016351 I leave that up to you... :pinkiecrazy:

This is a kind of stories I dont read very often. After finishing this, I think I'll have to change that.
+1 and Fav. Good work!
I believe I have a theory about the events which transpired in Ponyville:
SPOILERS!!!
The murderer was not Pinkie but Twilight herself.
There are too many strange things with Twilight's recollections of events to list but what made me think in the first place was this:

“Sorry,” she finished lamely. A flash of fear crossed her face as she considered an alternate reason for his question. “You… you believe me, don’t you?”

He paused for a moment before answering, his face expressionless as Sharpshot watched the exchange. “I believe that you are telling the truth,” he finally replied.

Think about it.

P.S. Also the story is titled The Curious Case of the Unicorn Twilight Sparkle which I suppose was meant to underline similarity with the THE STRANGE CASE OF Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, where Twilight is supposed to take place of Dr Jekyll, I believe.

This was a great horror story that I’ve left on my read later list for too long. I think I’ll go and see what else you’ve written now.
