It all started with a simple gig. Nothing too big, just me playing for some friends. But that’s when I discovered it. IT being that a pony with split personalities is not the best pony for leading a double life. Sometimes if I feel a beat, she comes out. She being an old friend who I’ve lived with since that fateful night. Who knew a simple bit of music could cause one stallion, to become a mare with the beats to match any top A-list player. My name is Shining Armor, and this is the story of my life as Vinyl Scratch.

It was the 5th of January. We had been prepping for this night for weeks, and it was finally time for me to play for the big dogs. The crowd was ready for this night. I looked out and saw an old friend, Neon Lights was attending my very first gig. -Time to show them all what a mare with a pair of shades can do!- I thought as I was preparing to start. “TIME TO DROP THIS SCHIST!!!” I shouted as I started to play my first song: Vinyliscious. “D to the J to the P O N 3,No pony drop the bass like me, I’m Vinyliscious!” this was when I realized I was talking like a mare. I looked down my body and saw that it was that of a mare, and not just any mare, me as a mare. This was when I decided that I would keep playing the role of Vinyl Scratch.
I am Shining Armor, and I will party till the day I die. I am Vinyl Scratch, and I will fight for what’s right. We are one and I am two. We live in me, but we are always here for you. You need a beat, Vinyl is here. You need some help, Shining will always be there. I will stand by you for what you need. Never doubt my strength and never fear what is always here.

But that's a lot of rambling, really, and in all of that, I forgot my manners. Allow me to introduce myself. I, am Shining Armor. And this is the story of my life as a very famous DJ, though I'm none too proud to admit it. I believe she goes by the name 'Vinyl Scratch'?

It was the fifth of January. We'd been preparing for this night since... well, if I remember right, it was a couple weeks. It's been such a hectic setup that I entirely forgot; stress muddles the memory, y'know? Anyway. This was a pretty big moment for me. No, no, 'big' is too small a word. Huge. Colossal. Incredible. Better than the first time I kissed a mare. This trumped everything. I could barely hold back my excitement when I stepped onto that stage, looking out at the crowd below the stage. It was crazy just how hot it was up there. But what kind of DJ doesn't keep their cool under stress? And I'll tell ya now; I'd never been so stressed in my life.

Still, there's a kind of magic in music, the right tune just taking your thoughts away and putting your body on autopilot. Just makes you have fun, no matter what you were thinking or worrying about at the time. And man, were they not ready for this!

Time to rock their world, I grinned to myself as the disc shined in the lights above my head. As soon as it hit the turntable and the needle landed in the groove, everything just went mad. The thunder of the bass, the shifting pitch and tone of the notes as they flew out of the speakers, the simply deafening quake I felt with every blast from the speakers. How could you put a word to something like that? It's like nothing else! It was incredible, and nothing else at that point could top it.

Though, to say I didn't feel a little... off would be a lie. I felt lighter, definitely, and bobbing my head to the beat was a lot easier than it usually was. But when I felt that thrum of a heavy bass note and started laughing, that was when it clicked. I was something different... or really, I was somewhere different. Like somepony else had taken my place in my body.

Was it my body anymore? At the time, I didn't really think much about it, just enjoying the music... but it was that lingering thought in the back of my head that just ebbed the fun for me. It kinda sucked!

strangely this is only the second fic ive seen here that has shining armor and vinyl as the same pony i kinda like those fics
